Ged and Vanessa gave us a very warm welcome and nothing at all was too much trouble for them. We took our Dalmatian with us for a four night break. The cottage was superb in every way. Decorated, furnished and maintained to a very high standard. Brilliant location for walking both us and the dog. Steyning village is quaint with numerous eateries. Walks and the river are right in your doorstep. All really good. We couldn't have wished for more and will definitely be returning. We would highly recommend Chanctonbury cottage. Thanks so much GED and Vanessa.

This well equipped delightful cottage is on the edge of a sprawling large village. However we did not get the chance to explore the surrounding countryside as we used the cottage as a base for traveling into Hove each day for cricket at Sussex County Cricket Ground. When we visit Hove again we will definitely stay here if it is available.
Good location for attractive walks along the nearby river (just 5 minutes' walk away across a meadow). Plenty of other walks nearby. The cottage is a largish cabin with tiled floors (with, in the bathroom, underfloor heating). A medium sized lounge opens into a kitchen area. The decent sized double bedroom and the bathroom opened off the lounge area. All the appliances and décor were very new as the owners Jeremy and Vanessa told us it had only recently been refurbished. The owners were friendly and helpful and on arrival they had left us a bottle of wine and some home made cake. A good location for Steyning and Bramber, both close by. Skip, our dog, quickly made himself at home here too.
If you're looking for accommodation around Steyning it should be a no-brainer, light and airy and steps from the downs; and even then the highlight is probably your hosts, who in our case went so far as to be willing to accommodate a 'home' birth when even the grandparents balked :-)
The cottage is self is well-sized and well-equipped, and within walking distance of everything you need. We'll definitely be back next time we're in the neighbourhood.
The welcome we received after a 5 hour journey from Somerset was amazing. A personal hello & intro to the area/accommodation from Vanessa along with some delicious lemon drizzle cake and a fabulous bottle of south African red to enjoy. With underfloor heating throughout, speedy wifi, beautiful linen and towels and a spacious bed, our 3 night stay at Chanctonbury Cottage could not have been more comfortable. There was ample room for the two of us and our Border Terrier and with miles of walking on the doorstep, it proved the prefect location for our short stay. Thanks Vanessa & Jed, we hope to see you again.
