My partner and I stayed here for a long weekend break. It was a lovely and very friendly hotel. Excellent cleanliness and nothing was too much trouble.
We had a lovely breakfast each morning. We also had an amazing 3 course meal on the Saturday night, ( left a separate review) easy access to places around chantilly.
Enjoyed our stay very much.
Recommend to all.

Great rooms in this beautiful setting.
Helpful English speaking receptionist.
Unfortunately the restaurant is closed for most of August, as is the classic way of particularly North France. But the v local, and v nice, Restaurant de la Forêt slipped us in and 7 of us had a pricey but v booze night.
Highly recommend if you fancy an authentic French hotel.

Room Tip: We had rooms above the entrance on the first floor, they had brilliant views of the cobbled courtyard which is a delight.

We chose this hotel because it is close to the CDG airport, about 20 km north. The hotel was very nice, beautiful restaurant with very good food, extensive wine list and friendly staff. The only problem was lack of airconditioning in the bedroom, but leaving the window open for the night solved this problem and we slept very well even if it had been a hot day.

My husband and I stayed at Le Relais d'Aumale for two nights. We frequently patronize Logis hotels because, while the rooms are often basic, the food is superb. Most, also, feature a warm, welcoming environment.

For the quality, the food at Relais d'Aumale's restaurant is overpriced. Our meals were over-salted and uninspired. I ordered fish; my husband ordered lamb. His meat was quite good, seasoned with North African spices and cooked perfectly. It was served, however, on a bed of chickpea puree that was so highly salted it overwhelmed the delicate nature of the meat's seasoning. My fish was served on a bed of peas in a red pepper sauce. Had a shovel of salt not been thrown at it, the dish would have been okay. As it was served, it wasn't good. I might add that we are not salt-averse; we cook with it, we serve it, and we appreciate its taste when appropriate.

The wine list, albeit extensive, should feature a wider variety of price points.

Lastly, and not insignificantly, the service was sub par. The gentleman who was working the night of our dinner was condescending to the point of rudeness. If he had treated all of the diners in that manner, I would write it off to a bad day, instead, he seemed to pick on the two tables of 'foreigners' - all of whom were quite civilized - but not French. Here's an example: While other diners, when changing wine were given new glasses, he not only did not offer them to us, but told his colleague (who brought them over) to take the new ones away. Had we not paid over 100 Euros for dinner, we would have found him and his stereotypical French waiter nonsense quite funny. In this case, however, we did not.

While the room itself was fine, the bathroom left a bit to be desired. The placement of the shower head is ridiculous - at the level of the average adult's armpit. If the goal is to reduce the likelihood of splashing water onto the floor, the designer got it wrong -- especially since the tub features one of those useless bits of glass that extend about one third of its length. The bathroom is also in need of an updating; the current tile colors and counter tops are dated.

In its favor, the room was immaculately clean, the beds were comfortable, and the neighborhood was quiet. No air conditioning, and no fan --- it would have been hell if we had stayed there a few days earlier during a June heat wave.

Bottom line: Nice hotel, but we say in Logis for the quality of the food and atmosphere. We, therefore, will not return to Hôtel le Relais d'Aumale.
