Just had a meal here at 4.00 pm. The food had not appeared after 20 minutes and we nicely asked the waiter when our food would be out. He said the food always takes about minimum of 20 minutes and then the food arrived, microwaved soggy pie, soggy chips (about 8 each, the childrens chips were the same size portion) and the waiter as he served the food informed us that we had only been waiting "17" minutes and made us feel that we had inconvenience him by asking. We will never come here again. It has gone down hill immensely from when it was 2 for 1. It is beyond words terrible.

Hello, thanks for taking the time to post a review for us. As all meals are cooked to order so it is usual for them to take 20-30 minutes as it would in most pubs. The pies are oven baked to order and are the same pies we have used for years, including when they were 2-4-1 only a week ago, so nothing has changed. I’m sorry that you left dissatisfied. The new menu has stripped out the excellent food we could always find at the Fox and replaced it with fast low cost food.
During our visit this week we found the staff friendly and responsive but it's all about the food so we will not be returning.

I went last night to The Fox to celebrate a friends birthday.
It eas the first night of the new menu and new deals.
They no longer do 2 for 1 deals. I had thought last time I went that the meals had got quite pricey which broken down meant you were paying for two.
The deal has gone now and I think the new one is much better. You can go out with family and friends now without making sure you have an even number of you and that you all pick from the deals.
We didn't try the new starters as we like our puds.
Three of us had fish and chips which at £7.95 was really good value. The fish was lovely, a nice crispy light batter with the fish cooked perfectly inside.
One if my friends and I paid an extra pound and shared a little jug of real chip shop curry sauce. Highly recommended.
Another friend had a Hunters type chicken which she also enjoyed.
The puddings were £3.75 to £3.95 we had a selection between us of chocolate fudge cake, ehich was light and delicous. St Clementine cookie a new one on tbe menu, again very nice.
A banoffee sunday and some mufgin tops. All very nice.
I think the prices are better now which is why we were more than happy to treat ourselves to pudding.
Added bonus the birthday girl got hers pudding free.
We had the refillable soft drinks at £3 each they have a good selection on offer to help yourself.
I had also received an email the day before announcing the new menu and changes which gave me 20% off.
We had excellent service from the helpful friendly staff.
So thank you for a great evening.
Access to the fox is very good. The design of tbe building means thete are lots of different areas so it feels nice and cosy.
There is an area outside where you can eat ad a small play area for children.
The Fox has it's own car park.
Well worth a visit

Hello, thank you so much for the most perfect 5 star review you took the time to write for us! After a tough couple of days with the menu switch over, this is just what we needed to read to boost the team. You have got it it all so spot on for what we all work so hard to achieve, we really hope to see you again soon. Kind Regards, Deborah Jarvis (Manager)

Chicken Wings, Black Pudding croquettes and Soup were all very good starters though the croquettes needed a little more help than tired lettuce accompaniment, but the charming Czech waitress brought along spicy sauce. We were delighted to see belly of pork on the menu as a special and thought of the mouth-watering creations that can be made from this humble cut of pork. Our expectations were dashed - it was horrible and I hate to think how it was cooked to make the little bit of flesh so stringy. It was largely fat and no crackling. The mashed potato was vile, the carrots and peas had clearly been around a while and the gravy unspeakably nasty, clearly straight out of a catering pack of ubiquitous gravy. It certainly had nothing to do with the pork. The "dessert" we chose was apple and berry pizza with aerosol cream - it was wonderful. If I go there again I'll skip the main course, but "AVERAGE" it ain't. Good first course, horrible main course followed by a wonderful sweet. My only other moan was at the shrieking children - but that's pot luck
