Me and my husband booked Rose Cottage for a week in Sept. The owner was lovely and helpful, supplying additional info via phone and email prior to our arrival. The Cottage is up in the hills between Richmond and Reeth in farming countryside. On arrival, we found the cottage to be clean and tidy with an old rustic charm. There was also a bottle of wine from the owner to welcome us! There is a folder with loads of useful information in, even recipes for the Aga (Range). Both of us being on the tall side (husband is 6’5”), we did do a bit of stooping to get through doorways but this wasn’t an issue. There were a few spiders and their cobwebs about but this is to be expected in an older cottage in the countryside. The shower room is new, a good size and with plenty of hot water. The bathroom with a loo and sink was nice and clean. The beds are very comfortable and the bedding looked new and was very clean. The kitchen is a real country kitchen, with a Range which cooks the loveliest stews! Loads of crockery and equipment in the kitchen, including a microwave, fridge/freezer, toaster etc. There is constant hot water and the kitchen is toasty warm. The views are what helped to make a lovely week a fabulous week. There is Wi-Fi access which worked perfectly. There are loads of walks nearby and around the small village of Marrick. No local shops, the nearest is in Reeth about 10 mins drive away. We will definitely keep the details of the owner and Rose Cottage because this will be our little “hideaway in the country” for fresh air holidays!
