Beautiful Ryokan in Asakusa, I love that place, little traditional rooms with tatami, but also with modern private toilets, you can take a bath in hot water in traditional wood bath with sky tree tower panorama. The breakfast is very good, a lots of super taste traditional homemade food.

Ryokan was a little cozy for 5 adults, but fully equipped with all the amenities you could need. Friendly helpful service. Nice, well equipped onsen, though a little too hot for my comfort (hotter than others we visited.) Great location next to Ueno park with all of its museums and shrines. 10 minute walk from Ueno station.

We checked in then checked out. Room we were shown was so small suitcase could only be opened on bed. The room and hallway smelled strongly of smoke and cleaning supplies. Based on the price we were quoted this was no bargain. We have stayed in "charming" Japanese hotels and ryokan and unfortunately this is not one. Perhaps the Japanese style rooms are better as others have suggested, but the price was the same as Hilton and with the impending typhoon during our visit, we chose to stay in a more reliable location.

Great location, near Ueno Park & Ueno Zoo, but a bit pricey for the size of the room.

This is a great hotel when you're looking for a traditional japanese room/experience. Don't forget to try the Onsen! :)

We stay here for 3 nights. We had a Japanese style room which was very spacious for Tokyo and the bathroom was bigger than usual. Ueno Park and Zoo are a short walk away. We used Nezu station as our local stop on the metro. It's only 5 minutes walk behind the hotel and is a cool neighbourhood for dining and shopping. The hotel has a very nice courtyard garden and although we didn't have meals there the restaurant looked very upmarket. The only downside was the "laundry" which was just a washing machine & dryer hidden behind a door in the basement. Internet available at cost in the foyer. Staff were helpful but English was limited so some basic Japanese would come in handy.
