Kyubey is a really good option if you are in the mood for a ‘proper’ counter dining sushi meal in Tokyo. One of the limiting factors with most high end sushi restaurants in Japan is that they don’t usually allow children less than 12 unless you book a private room. Kyubey is an exception here - they are more than happy to accommodate kids especially in their annexe providing a typical meal you would expect from them.
We dined with our 7 year old boy in the counter and went for the omakase meal for ourselves and ordered a la carte for him Our sushi chefs were extremely interactive despite the language barrier and looked after all of us really well. Each course flowed beautifully and the quality was superb. We really enjoyed the whole experience as a family.
