Kyubey is a really good option if you are in the mood for a ‘proper’ counter dining sushi meal in Tokyo. One of the limiting factors with most high end sushi restaurants in Japan is that they don’t usually allow children less than 12 unless you book a private room. Kyubey is an exception here - they are more than happy to accommodate kids especially in their annexe providing a typical meal you would expect from them.

We dined with our 7 year old boy in the counter and went for the omakase meal for ourselves and ordered a la carte for him Our sushi chefs were extremely interactive despite the language barrier and looked after all of us really well. Each course flowed beautifully and the quality was superb. We really enjoyed the whole experience as a family.

Ginza location; recommended by Hyatt as it became popular after Wall Street Journal had an interview article posted 11 years and Shinzo Abe invited Obama visited this restaurant a few years ago. Menu with several set courses; I could not see the differences in the course dish descriptions but only prices; highest-price course as 30,000 yen, very reasonable as what was offered with a good variety intersected with seafood dish by some veggie dish. The owner Yosuke Imada came out to say hello to each guest group and took out his famous faded laminated photo of Abe and Obama taken with him at the background, very entertaining. The food is admittedly above average but not in the top range food level in terms of freshness and fish quality. The service is excellent!

Loved our chef, loved the sashimi and sushi. Paid almost 500$ for two people but it was a top meal. Top quality everything.

Main store over 5 levels
We were seated level 2 counter ( 12 seats only )
No booking but rock up at 11 am got 1230
Clean and very inviting ambience
Service is very good . Our sushi chef even speaks a little bit English
Food is fresh and the epic dish is the kuruma Ebi - still alive after sashimi the head is grilled and told to eat the whole thing
Our lunch cost ¥8000 Omakase for 11 sushi -great value for money

One of our best dinners in Tokyo.
The place is amazing and the food is out of this world.
Had one of the best nigiris in my life and chef's and staff were really nice.
A must go while you're in Tokyo.
