For starters how can this hotel call itself a Five Star when they make you put the keycard for the electricity to work. That’s Days Inn stuff. Then it’s old and you can feel it and notice it. Corcierge staff is average at best. Certainly not the best in Tokyo but not the worst. The room is spacious though! Wouldn’t stay there again.

Dear CutbertoParraNicolin,

Thank your for your review. We regret that we have not been able to meet your expectations. The keycard slots are actually very effective in reducing unnecessary electricity consumption and should not inconvenience you in any way as electrical outlets and important appliances remain connected even when guests leave the room. We do feel strongly that reducing unnecessary energy consumption is more relevant today than ever.

We are also very sorry that you had the perception that the property was old. The hotel opened in 2009 and is one of the newer luxury hotels in town. As in all hotels in Japan, maintenance is of a very high standard as it is a matter of pride to my Japanese colleagues. The official hotel photos posted on this website have been taken in November 2017 and very much reflect the feel and the look of the hotel today.

Lastly, our Concierge team is renowned for going above and beyond as you will notice from the many other reviews on this site. However, I apologize if we have caused you disappointment and we will discuss with the team to ensure that we better anticipate your needs going forward.

We hope to be able to welcome you back in the future when we will do our utmost to ensure that you will see the hotel with different eyes and that you will join the many loyal guests who keep returning for a great staying experience..

Sincerely,

Marcus Bauder

Had stay here for many times, however, this time after never stay here for almost 2 years my fate bring me back here to meet to super dirty toilet bowl which leave evidence of previous guest heavy activities in this toilet. Furniture used to be new and good but now a little run down service is ok. The hotel concierge take long time to reply the email and cant really book any fancy restaurant for us. Bye shangri la tokyo, as my Only shangri La leaf ruin by the pervious guest

The hotel is very close to train station and bus stop from the airport. So it's very convenient and they offer meet and great service from the train platform and airport bus stop to the hotel for every guest, but you need to call and confirm the pick up time with them.

The lobby is nice and located on the 28th floor, however if you book the horizontal club you can check in and out at the horizontal club. I have a chance to stay in the horizontal club room and normal deluxe room. The layout of the room almost the same, however you can enjoy the horizontal club floor and get a more luxury brand for the bathroom complimentary. The WIFI in this hotel is super fast everywhere. The staff are nice, kind and professional. The swimming pool and the fitness are clean and perfect condition. There are spa and sauna inside the bathroom. So it's nice to use after the exercise or on the long days of walking. The breakfast is nice and consist of many menus include american and Japanese.

Room Tip: Normal room is already what you need

Having spent a few days and nights at the Shangri-La Hotel we were blown away by the sheer opulence of the Furniture & Wall coverings. The soft furnishings were aesthetically pleasing to the eye and quite calming.

We arrived very early (10.39) from Osaka, expecting to drop off the bags and check-in later, no way....with good fortune our room was ready! Result...we dropped off the bags in our room, 3633 on the 36F with amazing views over the Sprawling city of Tokyo.

The Room was an executive Imperial Palace Deluxe.
Amazing, the quirky ‘wet room’ encased in a separate glass compartment with a bath & Rain showers, twin vanity sink with Bvulgari toiletries and every imaginable toiletry man or woman required.
The Bed is a king and the linen is Egyptian cotton.
The floor to ceiling Blinds & Curtains are controlled remotely, as are the ceiling & Bed Lights.
Small touches go a long way....a set of His/Her Pyjamas are in a drawer, also a full set of His/Her Kimono, Towelling Bathrobes, Slippers all of which are replaced each day.
A full Nespresso set including Cups plus a list of Teas and a set of Japanese Tea cups.

Horizon Club
As regular visitors to ‘Club Style’ Lounges wherever we stay this was our first experience of the Horizon Club, it ticks all the boxes, warm, friendly, comfortable, unlimited Tea/Coffee & Snacks available all day. We were offered ‘coffee to go’ when heading out sightseeing, even packs of crocs, boiling.
17.30-1900 a full complimentary bar & hot buffet food is available...!

A big thank you to Suyeon Song, a Star, and her Team for a Fantastic time in the Club.

The Spa, Pool & Gym area are amazing, the infinity pool is simply stunning....looking out from the 29 floor in the middle of a City is awesome.

We booked a standard double room for 5 nights in April 2018 for leisure and it is clear that this is mostly a business adress. Nevertheless, we were taken in by the beautiful decor and atmosphere of the hotel. The bathroom and especially the shower were great partly due to the large window overlooking the city. Cool! We didn't need much assistance from the staff, but all interactions were very pleasant and efficient. Recommended!
