A hermitage like brewery-hotel in a remote village

5.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed 15 Feb 2019
If you are looking for some nice and quietness away from the city life, you are at the right place. All you will find here are good beer, fine German food and the peace you've been longing for. You have the brewery next door which offers tours to hotel guests. Freshly brewed beer is served at the hotel restaurant throughout the day. The brewery museum on the 2nd floor is interesting to visit. It's worth mentioning that the reception also serves as the gift shop where you can buy souvenirs.

Perfect place for a relaxing sleep in the Ulm region. Good room (bed could be better), very clean and very, very quiet. Restaurant with good German food and great beers. Good value for money. I will come back.

I am not sure if this is a fair review but at the time of writing (just past 2am in the morning) I have just killed the 9th mosquito in my room (102). We are staying here for one night and it was raining when we checked in during late afternoon. The windows were open when we went into the room. We didn't bother but with hindsight we should have as that seemed to have made way for the mosquitoes to come in. The air con didn't seem to adjust and not strong enough so we thought we might as well leave the windows open. As went to sleep around 9ish but by 10ish I realised I had half a dozen of mosquito bites all over my legs and another cluster showing up on my son's arm. We put on mosquito spray (didn't plan to bring but so happened we had a bottle from last trip) but didn't seem to help too much. I have decided to close all the windows, keep the lights on and kill the insects as they launched attack my better half and kids were sleeping. Didn't expect there were so many with quite a few bloody ones. I lived in the tropical region and never had this experience. Perhaps today I was just unlucky to come while it was raining outside.

Positives - room is spacious for the four of us, nice swimming pool and decent food.
Some negatives - the church bell a block away apparently rings at half an hour intervals throughout ...... including this hour of the morning (2.30am!)
    - the hairdryer in my room does not work (in fact there was a burning smell and smoke coming out once we turned it on). Checked with reception if I could borrow one but nothing available.
    - from my room even without windows shut we could still listen people talking downstairs and cars moving and parking on the sand grovel surface

Again, it has probably been our unlucky day but thought we should not be the first group to experience such issues and there should be ways to cope with them successfully.

Lovely hotel to stay in. The rooms are very modern and comfortable. Internet coverage and speed in building is very good. Food is very good and served very quickly. Beer selection is great and some very good draft beers. Surrounding area is a typical farming village and corn fields.

Excellent hotel, with a very good price per quality. It's in an old beer factory (besides a modern beer factory), with an interesting beer museum. My room was very large, comfortable, clean and well equipped.
The hotel has also a nice garden, a very good restaurant (the breakfast was more than excellent) and a rather large swimming-pool and SPA area. Nice staff will warmly support you.

On our way to Italy my family and I stayed at this hotel for one night. I searched for something not too far from Ulm. The location of the hotel allowed me to decide in the morning what road I'd prefer to continue our journey, depending on traffic and weather conditions. From here, you can easily return to the A8 (direction Munich) or the A7 (direction Memmingen/Kempten). Though we didn't take the time to explore Ichenhausen, I don't have the impression that Ichenhausen itself has many things to offer to tourists. The most popular place of interest would be Legoland, which is only a few kilometers away. On the other hand, after having travelled for several hours, it's nice to relax in a small peaceful village.
The site of the hotel is fairly large and the building itself looks idyllic. There's plenty of room to park the car here and there is a pretty large yard. We stayed at the guesthouse, only a little bit further down the road. The room is spacious and clean and offers all needed accommodation. Beds are comfortable. The restaurant is in the main building where you can choose from a variety of dishes, all well prepared. There's also a children's menu. You can order beer from its own brewery or even a softdrink they make by themselves. After dinner you can continue tasting the local beers. Breakfast is a buffet and is also well taken care of. There's not even a single complaint about the service and the kindness of the staff.
This hotel has a swimming pool, and there is a wellness area (naked).

I am positive about our short stay in Autenrieder Brauereigasthof and I feel like we received good quality for the money. Probably I might book this hotel again when we are travelling over Ulm again.
