“Comfortable apartment in converted farmhouse, lovely pool, great views.”
Reviewed 13 June 2014 for a stay in June 2014

Apartment Pini, on the ground floor of Casa Torretta has 2 good sized bedrooms and 2 shower rooms, a smallish but adequate kitchen/living room and a lovely outdoor terrace with great views over the sea towards the Aeolian Islands. It was very comfortable for 4 adults but might have seemed crowded if the sofa-bed in the living room was sleeping 2 more people or the weather meant we had to stay indoors - so we felt 6 would have been too many. The whole complex is well managed by the helpful young Nicola who was frequently on hand to deal with any problems, (though we had none,) and organised our day trip to Lipari and Vulcano. A lot of effort seems to have gone in to designing this whole complex and the pool area is quite luxurious - or would be in high season when it's fully operating with the bar etc - but we felt the lack of certain facilities in the apartments. There were no cups or mugs for tea, just glasses and tiny coffee cups but we were glad to find a kettle! We would have liked an under-sheet and under pillow cases for the beds, though the linens were generally fine and an extra blanket for each bed, (it was quite chilly on our first few nights,) and a couple of tea towels. The fridge was good and there were signs that once there may have been a washing machine or dish-washer in the kitchen but it has neither now. Just one washing machine for the whole complex would be a very worthwhile addition - and a starter kit of things like washing-up liquid, a few condiments, even a simple 'welcome pack' of bread, milk, a bottle of local wine would immediately upgrade the whole place to 5 stars!
Casa Torretta is quite hard to find, up the hill behind Saliceto a suburb of Patti Marina. We did it by having a really good look at Google Earth and maps in advance but it is remote and not well signed till close to the property and Nicola was very surprised that we got there without a satnav. Visitors need a much better set of instructions to find it if he is not to be called out to rescue all comers! Over-all, however, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay there and once we'd discovered the delights of quiet, neighbouring San Giorgio with its beach, bars, supermarket and nice restaurant, we had all we needed. Easy trips out included Tyndaris, the church and classical site, Novara Sicilia back into the mountains and of course the interesting volcanic Aeolian Islands.

“Superb Accomodation”
Reviewed 13 July 2013 for a stay in July 2013

Stayed at Casa Torretta at the begJul and thoroughly enjoyed the stay. Room was on the first floor and of a good size and very clean and surprisingly big for two people. Air conditioning in all rooms, thick walls helped to keep the rooms cool, and a fantastic balcony overlooking the sea with table and chairs. Swimming pool is superb and a nice size and also bar available in evening. Only 6 apartments at Casa Torretta so nice and quiet. We arrived late at night ~23.30 after landing at Palmero ~19.30 then collecting the car. Drive from Palermo is about 3hrs versus the 2.5hrs route planner suggets. Although we printed off the google map directions we got totally lost with the owners having to rescue us in the end. Suggest either getting a Tomtom or printing off very detailed directions as there are minimal road names and at night you can't see a thing. Roads are also much smaller then you'd think. We had taken a Tablet with GPS and an offline map app but the small roads weren't shown on the map. Owners were very helpful and friendly. It's only a 5min drive into Patti or to Patti Marina. There's a big supermarket just before you arrive at Patti Marina. Also recommend the Gelato shop (EUR1.5 for enormous scoop of icecream) in Patti town (Central square) where all the locals also seem to go. Would certainly go back and would recommend. Unfortunately we couldn't find any information in the apartment so we weren't really sure where the nearest supermarket was, local restaurants, what to do with the rubbish, and when to check out. Very minor point for a lovely apartment.

“Perfect location to explore the north of Sicily!!!”

Casa Torretta provides fantastic accommodation for any number of people. We stayed in the one bedroom apartment with a well equipped kitchen and a lovely balcony overlooking the ocean. Everything was clean, well furnished and we were very pleased to have a great shower (not always a certainty!) The swimming pool area is just fantastic and if there is a number of you staying (if you could afford it I would book out the whole complex for a big party - no neighbours!) the outside kitchen is extremely well equipped!

From the time of booking I knew we had found the best place to stay - Mattia was happy to answer my multitude of questions and visited us a couple of times during our stay to check we were ok, to book us on a boat trip to the Aeolian Islands (a great day out!) and then to say goodbye. We were slightly out of season and by our third day we had the whole apartment block to ourselves, bar the three gorgeous kittens that live there.

In some pictures you may see that the autostrada runs in front of the apartments but it is a good distance away and does not create much noise at all i.e. don't let it put you off!

Patti Marina is the closest town and has all the amenities you would need, but a slight lack of good restaurants. In Patti central we found lovely places to eat including Donna Elvira - a traditional restaurant on the way out of the town which we went to twice. The food is amazing...but ask for clear directions to get there! During our stay we were lucky to visit Messina and Taormina. Taormina is absolutely beautiful and a "must visit" for views of Etna and to wander around the cobbled streets of the hillside town.

All in all Casa Torretta is in a great location, nicely secluded so the best advice I can give is that you will definitely need a car - it would be a shame not to be able to go off on day trips around the island!

We really enjoyed the stay in Patti residence. It is great for a family holiday as it has all the required facilities, including a nice pool, and the house has a lot of charm with lovely views. Thanks for a grat stay.
