Talence is a really nice and calm part of the city, so this hotel has a very nice location. It is right next to the tram stop "Forum", so it takes about 10 minutes to get to the city centre by line A. The rooms are clean and spacious, however they don't have air condition, so during the summer nights it can be really unpleasantly hot. Also, not all the rooms have a hair dryer so be sure to check that. There are a couple of fine restaurants and bakery shops just around the corner.
This "hotel" seemed to have been transplanted here from some communist country before the Soviet Union fell. The corridors and room reeked of smoke and urine, which made me wonder if they actually do clean the room once every three days, as they kindly point out at reception. In an attempt to justify why "hotel" guests shared the apartment building with other longer term tenants, they rebranded this as an "aparthotel" by providing decrepit basic amenities such as fridge and microwave with brands that disappeared in the eighties. Virtually all the other hotels were sold out the evening I was in Bordeaux, but I would not stay here again under any circumstances.
The apartment appeared clean but the cupboard had cobwebs hanging down and the shelves were all dusty. As the apartment is only serviced once in 3 days the shower supplies were only enough for the first day and the toilet paper ran out on the 2nd day. Fortunately I spotted a trolley with supplies for the rooms which were being serviced and managed to help myself to a spare roll.
There also seems to be a problem with hot water - if one showers in the morning there is no further hot water until the following morning, so forget about washing before going to bed as the water remains ice cold. It seems that the geyser only heats up once in 24 hours.
The bed was comfortable and the linen good quality but the pillows were lumpy.
Very friendly staff and parking was free, as was the wi-fi.
I stayed in the Teneo while attending a conference at Bordeaux University, which is less than 10mins walk away, making it a very convenient choice. The hotel was excellent value: a very large apartment (bedroom, living room, kitchenette and bathroom) that would easily accomodate a couple or family for a longer stay. All was clean, well-equipped and comfortable. Continental breakfast was also good value at 6 euros, and was fresh and plentiful. Note that these apartments have maid service only every 3 days (which I found no problem). The Teneo is ~3.5miles from the old town centre: 15mins by tram, or 1hr walk if the tram is on strike! The bistro opposite the hotel is recommended.
Nice large appartment, huge bathroom, comfortable beddings, modern and well situated for visiting Bordeaux (15mins by tram) and surrondings without being in the "busy part", the tramway is at the foot of the appartments. Groceries within walking distances. Nice helpful staff. Breakfast is simple, just what you need, with nice coffee. We will come back. Excellent restaurant at the bottom of the building is worth a visit!
