Very poor treatment from this hotel. I had a heart attack two days before our visit so we could not go. Hotel have been really bad in replying to emails and phone calls. Whist we apologise that their policy does not allow refunds we had hoped for some compassion. Steer clear of this hotel if you are not well!
I booked the Espelata because it was close to the University of Bordeaux campus where I was attending a conference. The hotel was excellent, charming staff and very pleasant room overlooking the Parc Peixotto with its greenery, fountains and waterbirds. The tram direct into the centre of Bordeaux was just a hundred metres away, and just by the tram was the fabulous Halles de Talence. Highly recommended!
excellent location, great breakfast and very responsive staff. The stairs are well lit and the elevator is spacious. The tram stop nearby has fully electronic tickets you can buy ahead of time on your phone
Location was excellent for us, only a few stops on the tram from the main centre, rooms are basic, clean and come with microwave and 2 hobs for cooking which was ideal for breakfast :) Friendly staff, I would recommend.
Stayed here for a night. Had a terrible sleep caused by a terrible stomachache and asked my partner if he could speak to the receptionist to ask if I could check out before 12noon instead of the usual 10am check out as my tummy still acting up a little. The lady he spoke to said it’s impossible as there will be another guest checking in and so I pushed myself to pack up and go. While checking out I asked the lady at the front desk (not sure if it’s the same lady that my partner spoke to) if how much is it to book a room for half a day (if any) as I really need to stay in bed for a couple of hours till I get better as my partner already left early for his meeting. The lady answered me in a very uncompassionate manner saying- we don’t take half a day booking. It’s 70€ if you want to stay another day and YOUR ROOM IS AVAILABLE.
Not sure what to say but I felt so ashamed for their service that I chose to just hand over the keys and go. The room was decent size and comfortable but all of that doesn’t matter anymore when you don’t even show a little sympathy/humanity to your guest’s in need of a little help/understanding.
I checked out and went to another Teneo Aparthotel Centre which is just 2 mins walk from this hotel. Went in, spoke to a very nice receptionist and explained how I’m feeling. Paid 50€ for the day and without saying anything gave me a very nice room with a bath and an instruction on how to self checkout in case I left later that day. The room is a little older but very comfortable. What makes it even better is the excellent humane service I have received. So yes for those who’s not aware there’s 2 of this the same hotel about 100m apart. Never will I stay on their Espeleta branch!
