Never Again

1.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed 6 Mar 2019via mobile
Stayed here for a night. Had a terrible sleep caused by a terrible stomachache and asked my partner if he could speak to the receptionist to ask if I could check out before 12noon instead of the usual 10am check out as my tummy still acting up a little. The lady he spoke to said it’s impossible as there will be another guest checking in and so I pushed myself to pack up and go. While checking out I asked the lady at the front desk (not sure if it’s the same lady that my partner spoke to) if how much is it to book a room for half a day (if any) as I really need to stay in bed for a couple of hours till I get better as my partner already left early for his meeting. The lady answered me in a very uncompassionate manner saying- we don’t take half a day booking. It’s 70€ if you want to stay another day and YOUR ROOM IS AVAILABLE.
Not sure what to say but I felt so ashamed for their service that I chose to just hand over the keys and go. The room was decent size and comfortable but all of that doesn’t matter anymore when you don’t even show a little sympathy/humanity to your guest’s in need of a little help/understanding.

I checked out and went to another Teneo Aparthotel Centre which is just 2 mins walk from this hotel. Went in, spoke to a very nice receptionist and explained how I’m feeling. Paid 50€ for the day and without saying anything gave me a very nice room with a bath and an instruction on how to self checkout in case I left later that day. The room is a little older but very comfortable. What makes it even better is the excellent humane service I have received. So yes for those who’s not aware there’s 2 of this the same hotel about 100m apart. Never will I stay on their Espeleta branch!

Ideally located if you need to be at the university and would like to enjoy the city as well as you are on line B (tram). Very clean rooms, spacious showerroom (no bath). Breakfast does not offer enough variation for its price (10.50€) and the viennoiseries could be more tasty. People at the desk are definitively helpful!

So the good points were - decent room size, clean & friendly staff.

However, There were quite a few bad points -
        1. The windows open inwards meaning you can’t close the curtains at night, meaning you have to keep them closed which then gets VERY hot in the room when it’s 28 degrees outside!! We tried the airconditionig but apparently they turn it off during the winter for the whole building and turn it back on in the summer.. it’s early May and it’s as I said 28 degrees outside.. surely this is summer now and air conditioning should be turned on for the building. Also leaving the window slightly open meant that our sleep was disturbed throughout the night with the noise from outside along with sleeping in a pool of sweat.

        2. Parking is €2 per hour outside the hotel - they do not give free parking even though the hotel is quite pricey for what it is.

        3. What kind of Business suite only provides 2 pillows?

        4. Breakfast was €10 - which was a lot for some crossaints and juice. (We obviously did not eat breakfast at this hotel and found other places which were cheaper and much better).

        5. There weren’t any English channels on the TV apart from a news channel. I get that I’m in France and it’s french TV, but there were so many English/American movies on dubbed in French - and we couldn’t even get English subtitles! There wasn’t really any point of paying for a TV for us.

        6. Having the kitchenette was handy but it lacked a few items like a chopping board, dish wash liquid...
Overall I would not recommend this place for the price you pay!!
        Not a happy guest here.

        Please do something about this.

I stayed here for for 5 nights. If you a looking for a place to stay close to the University of Bordeaux campus in Talence this is a right place. It is located less than 10 minutes walk (uphill) from Agora University of Bordeaux. It is a new building, 3 minutes walk from the tram station (line B). Spacious and clean room with small kitchen. Kind staff. Small breakfast room and small lobby. No hotel bar. Free fast wifi, but the connection broked few times. Ask for a room looking at the nearby botanical garden.

Wonderful place - clean, large room and bathroom, towels changed every day. Above all, extremely nice and supportive staff.
Breakfast is OK - but I suggest to get the bread and bakery from another provider, they are not as I had in other hotels in France.
You can get rid of the tram noise if you close the window - which maneuver, by the way, automatically turns on the AC.
Great if you have something to do in Talence - Bordeaux can be easily reached by tram, it takes like 20 minutes to downtown, and the tram runs frequently.

We arrived late in the evening but was welcomed by a friendly receptionist who haves us a map and helped us to our room. Great experience staying at this clean, stylish and topnotch hotel. Do be aware that the hotel is a bit far away from the the main station, especially if you are on foot.

Room tip: Make sure to catch a tram or bus to get to the hotel.
