I recently got married in this Castle and it was great. My family and friends came over from France and the ones that stayed overnight really enjoyed it. I personally stayed two nights and the room was nice and clean. On the day of the wedding, the room was nicely decorated to welcome the new married couple. For the wedding reception, they organise everything: the really entertaining afternoon activities (Axes throwing and archery), the nice decoration of the reception room, the amazing firework and the really tasty food! Also the waiters were really nice and friendly.
Thanks to all the staff of the Schloss Wurzen, this day was a real success!
I would recommend this venue to anyone visiting the area whatever they want to do: overnight stay, a meal at the restaurant or a big celebration!

Because our normal hotel in Hofgen was experiencing water-damage from the flood of the Mulde in 2013, we decided to look around Leipzig and found this hotel in Wurzen. First of all, we were pleasantly surprised by the town of Wurzen which looked nice in comparison with some of the grim grey East-German villages that we have seen. This hotel fitted perfectly. Although we learned that the castle was used as a prison for many years of the cold war, there were no signs and there were nice guestrooms, beautiful eatinghalls and a nice entrance hall. Although it was a bit noisy and we could hear the guests literaly talking in the corridors, the rooms were clean and there was a rich breakfast buffet. The beds were not that comfortable, I had a rough night on the springs. Since I am not judging the city and the sleep ended in backpain, I am leaning towards a rating of 3, although there are plenty of factors to up the score. Some better beds, and new children playing equipment in the ditch around the castle, might change my mind. In the end, I would recommend it, but not as a first choice.
