We visited the restaurant and enjoyed the classical atmosphere in the beautyful Cherasco.
We ordered from the menu and chose not to follow the suggested daily tourist menu at €25 per person.
The Vitello Tonnato was rich with flavour - and the local dish Tagliata (fine pasta) with ragū (bolognese) was very tasty. For Secondo we went for Formaggio (selection of cheeses) and grilled pork with beens. Both fresh and great.
It is possible to have wine by the glass at fair prices (e.g. Barolo 2001 at €8)
Very recommendable.

Reservations here are notoriously hard to snag, both because of the eateries' size - 2 tables- and its reputation which has legend writ all over it. A short wait is rewarded with terrific snail dishes - one with wild mushrooms, another with tomatoes and chillies. We tried the gnocci made with a velvety sauce of cream and Castelmagno,a fruity tang. Then a beautiful plate of cured leg of lamb with arugula, sweet cherry tomatoes, extra virgin olive oil and lemon juice.

We added an antipasto, called carpione,a piquant chicken dish with batons of zucchini. Our fine feathered bird was pickled for a duet of days in white wine vinegar and water, served lightly chilled. We drank a juicy, inexpensive Dolcetto d'Alba from Renatto Ratti. Great place for revving up your soul and firing up being alive,

We ate there for dinner, and it was really nice. The menu does not offer many choices, mainly local specialties, but tasting very good. The staff was nice as well.

Our lunch was a slow food delight. No rushing, no fast food, no factory made, only custom grown, seasonally prepared and served with care. I only wish I could eat like this in the US. All the places we ate in Piemonte were exceptional. They are the best chef/cooks in all of Italy in my opinion. It is good that they are reluctant to become commercialized, the art and craft would suffer as would the clientele. I will bring my grandchildren here to make sure they gain the knowledge of what is really superior.

Take your time and experience some wonderful Piedmontese tastes. Just down via San Pietro, this is a great place with friendly staff and good English. They're proud of their food here and they should be! We had a delightful and ample meal for two; 2antipasti (the Roccaverano cheese flan is absolutely superb!), 1 primi, 2 secondi, 2 dolci (try the wonderfully light panna cotta or delicious chocolate "Bonet", a cross between a mousse and a fudge), a wonderful local white wine, bread and coffee for 72 euro.
If you're brave enough to try the snails, the chef has won awards for his Lumache fritte con cipolle.
There's ample free parking a short walk away, just follow the P signs when you enter town.
