I found this restaurant on the way out of Milan. Thanks to its signs on the road, I decided to try it out. One must take a flight of stairs up to the restaurant, but I do remember seeing an elevator for handicapped. The service was fast, even after 13:00. The pizza I ordered was really good, but unfortunately they served tap water instead of bottled water. Considering everything, this is a very good restaurant .

La Giara is very popular for its pizzas but also for its steakhouse and restaurant. I remember eating a very good pizza there a few years ago but this time I had the opportunity to eat at its restaurant with family.
The menu is exhaustive and one has difficulty choosing from all the attractive dishes proposed. We decided to share whatever we would get in order to taste several dishes and their panoply of flavours.
To start our meal we chose Brandied prawns with farro salad and chickpeas, cherry tomatoes and pesto; grilled octopus in squid ink on a cream of potatoes, Swiss chard and crispy Jerusalem artichoke and Culatello (expensive cured meat from Parma) with fried dumplings and buffalo mozzarella cheese.
The “antipasti” were so inviting that we started eating them immediately, forgetting to take pictures, a pity as their presentation, in addition to their taste, was stunning. After tasting them all, my favourite were the prawns with farro salad and the Culatello meat with fried dumpling.
We then decided to go for “primi piatti” as we can enjoy good meat and fish in other places and countries but we absolutely wanted to try their unique pasta and rice dishes.
Again, we chose different dishes: Spaghettis with prawns, shallots, julienne of zucchini and roe of gray mullet (bottarga); Spaghetti alla Carbonara di mare (seafood Carbonara); ravioli filled with porcini mushrooms with pancetta and pecorino cheese; and finally a risotto with porcini mushrooms, gorgonzola cheese and walnuts. Although all dishes were delicious, my favourite ones were the spaghettis with prawns and bottarga and the ravioli with porcini for their unbelievable taste.
At this point we could have easily finished our meal but I was told that the desserts were exquisite and therefore we took a few ones: a pine nuts and toasted almonds parfait with a dark chocolate sauce and wild berries; a cherry frangipane with caramelized bananas and custard and finally a dark chocolate mousse with raspberries and pistachio biscuits, all of them very good.
Our experience at La Giara was definitely very exciting and positive, accompanied by a very good service by owners and staff. Prices are average for a good restaurant but not too high as we are on the outskirts of Milan. I was told that the menu changes on a regular basis but it’s always excellent. Good place to return on a future trip. Thanks to Andrea and Anna for their invitation.

Lovely food, lovely service, good prices.

We ate here in August 2015 as we were staying in a nereby hotel. The restaurant is traditionally decorated and offers a traditional menu.

We enjoyed the atmosphere and were very happy.

Very welcoming staff with excellent choice of fish or steak food in traditional Italian setting. Waitors very helpful with food and drink choices and very good service and ambiance in the restaurant. Pricing is very reasonable.
