This was a great, free fun activity for our family, even in winter. We needed to be prepared to get our shoes dirty, but it was all good. The i-site lady and the signage said that the lower the tide the better and the further you go towards the Cabbage Tree Road end the bigger the boulders get. This is great for motivation to keep walking.
There are no picnicking facilities (or toilets) at this spot, but we found a donkey who was quite entertaining.
Our amateur geologist found it really cool, and the rest of us enjoyed it because we hadn't been to Moeraki.
Definitely worth the trip.

These are just like the Mouraki boulders in the south island. Easy to access only 5 min down the beach from the car park. Visit 2 hours either side of low tide. Really awesome, well worth a visit.

Kids loved jumping on the boulders. Lots of fun. Spent at least two hours walking on the beach and boulder jumping. Must walk all the way to the end of the beach for the best boulders

Be warned, the mud is very cement-like in places, you want to wear your oldest shoes, and its a bit of a walk from the carpark!

Walk on the soft, white sandy beach, enjoying the gentle breeze and came to the 3 diameter large boulders. some are a bit smaller, but they all came together as a collection which would definitely make an awesome visual impact on the mind. They artworks of nature.
