Fantastic stay

Review of Hotel des Alpes
5.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed 7 Sept 2019
We had a wonderful stay here! The hotel is lovely and perfectly located across the street from the bus stop. The owners were kind and very helpful. Our room was sparse, but comfortable and had a nice view of the square. We enjoyed our spa experience as well. Thank you for the great hospitality!

We based ourselves at Hotel des Alpes and it was perfect. Being at the base of Alpes d’Huez we were able to ride out every day for a week and do a different Col. It was also central for restaurants etc. The rooms were suited to our needs and as a group of 6 we had no issues slept well and enjoyed the homemade ice cream and great service. A definite return is called for as we have unfinished business with some Cols.

Bang in the center of this bike focused town (in summer at least), the hotel is comfortable, friendly and very reasonably priced. There's a lock up bike room and a free public parking area a few hundred meters away. There's even a handsome hotel cat to welcome you.

A fantastic location in the centre of town with many places to eat nearby along with easy access to bike shops and a short cycle to the foot of Alpe D'Huez. Easy to book via email Mme Charpin speaks very good English. Rooms and hotel very clean I stayed in 204 Double bed comfy and clean. Bathroom recently referbed and was spotless Large shower, toilet and washbasin all brand new and sparkling. Plenty of secure bike storage in the cellar. Continental breakfast was help yourself buffet style plenty of cereal fruit and pastries all good. As a base for cycling I could not fault it and hope to be back soon.

The lovely Elsa and Nicola own and run the hotel, so they really look after you like family. The rooms have recently been refurbished, so have very modern bathrooms. We have stayed a number of times and the room shape/size varies but all are very comfortable and are made up daily.

The hotel is right in the middle of town. It is very conveniently located around other cafes, restaurants, shops and supermarkets. You can walk everywhere very easily.

The hotel restaurant is well priced and the food is delicious. My favourite is the homemade ice cream. Nicola makes the ice cream on the premises in many flavours and it is really incredible. Only two euros for a single waffle cone, three euros for a double, its absolutely delicious!

Room tip: Choose a room that faces the plaza, you will have a lovely view.

This hotel is probably the best in the whole city ... located centrally on the square and with the perfect cafe to drink your beer and/or coffee after a long day.

We enjoyed the stay (for the second year in a row!) and were happy to live here while spent the weekend cycling up the Alpe D'Huez.

The hotel sports a large basement for secure bike parking during night.

The owner and the staff are the nicest people and always smiling :)
