“Sea Fever”
Reviewed 23 October 2017 for a stay in September 2017

"I must go down to the seas again, to the lonely sea and the sky,
And all I ask is a tall ship and a star to steer her by;
And the wheel's kick and the wind's song and the white sail's shaking,..."

( "Sea Fever" by John Ireland based on a poem by John Masefield)

For those who prefer to keep their feet on (steady) dry land, this holiday home is as near as it gets to that experience of splendid isolation and is all the more surprising on this busy costa. We planned to do a little exploring but instead spent tranquil days watching the dolphins and every type of human activity on, in and below the clear waters, from the garden and the terraces. On the far horizon, the returning ferry from Africa signalled our breakfast; the outgoing one accompanied our evening meal. We even met some Spanish Ibex on the cliff path beside the communal pool next door which was quiet (it was September), well maintained... and bracing!

This house was not only clean and well equipped but is a treasury of family mementos and memories, meaning we felt like visitors rather than tourists. We found "top up" groceries including gluten free items in the mini-supermarkets of La Herradura, about 10 min walk along the playa. (We noticed that the locals use a set of steps that end just behind the Cambao de Vicente seafood restaurant and which cuts out the last bend in the road.) For major shopping, the Mercadona in Nerja is an easy 12min drive along the old coast road (N340) which is both quiet and has stunning views. (We found N340/ Calle las Palomas the best way to access the property - La Herradura town has an interesting one way system)

More importantly, sitting "like frogs around the pond", we rediscovered how much the sound of the sea soothes "life's fitful fever..." Sleep well!

“Great house in amazing location!! ”
Reviewed 25 September 2017 for a stay in September 2017

Spacious house with magnificent views over the sea. Short 10min walk into small but ample sized down. Loved it! Whoever is in the tower room should be an early riser though as it's lacking curtains.

This is the BEST! Fabulous views, quiet beach town, and exquisite home! We traveled with small children and teenagers. There is fun to be had by all! We could stay here a month! Very safe, gated community, the pool is practically nest door, even though it is "shared". The trash is picked up daily. The beds are comfortable. The kitchen is small, but fully equipped. Internet is awesome. Plenty of room, cute nooks and crannies. We will definitely be back
