“Wonderful and charming!”
Reviewed 26 March 2015 for a stay in April 2014

We arrived at Casa Verde after an easy journey from the UK to find a wonderful welcome from the owners Pam and Neil and a lovely supply of provisions including milk, cheese, bread, coffee and a bottle of the delicious local wine to greet us! This immaculate house is even better than described, and has been restored and decorated in a Spanish/morrocan style which is charming and homely in equal measures. The beds were extremely comfortable in every bedroom and we made full use of both the upstairs and downstairs living rooms. The kitchen is extremely well stocked, the dishwasher was essential with 7 of us staying there, and it had an amazing store cupboard of herbs, spices and other essentials. My favourite part however was enjoying breakfast everyday on the pretty patio outside! A real home from home! The house is ideally situated within the town with easy walking access to the local supermarkets and to the lively bars in the town square, where we spent quite a few hours watching the world go by whilst enjoying the local beverages and sampling the free, yes that's right!, free tapas that accompanies them! There are many walks around the local area and I would definitely recommend the one through the spectacular gorge, though maybe not in the midday sun! If you have a hire car then Alhama is ideally located for exploring this stunning region of Spain further. Something we intend to do on our next return visit which we are hoping to do very soon. I felt compelled to write this after reading the shocking 2 star review below. We have stayed here a few times now and have never had a bad experience with either the house or the owners! In fact we love it more each time we visit!

“A stunning house in a breathtaking town”
Reviewed 21 February 2015 for a stay in November 2014

As a frequent traveller, I have stayed in many types of accommodation and Casa Verde is possible one of the nicest I have found. The decoration is amazing, very arty, the rooms were fresh and clean, and the house itself just oozes character and personality. The decoration in both the bathrooms is particularly beautiful, and fantastic hot showers. Pam and Neil had provided a welcome pack, including the local quality wine, a really nice touch. I really enjoyed my Stay in Alhama de Granada, the town is like stepping back in time with it’s local characters and bars, my stay was made all the more pleasant by my stay in Casa Verde.

“old and tired furniture not clean”
Reviewed 1 November 2014 for a stay in October 2014

The house is in a small village. The house is a old twon house and not easy to park at all on the narrow streets of the village as it has no car park. Furniture are very old and tired, sofa in the living room on the ground floor very uncomfortable. Picked up two plates to make some sandwiches for lunch time and both plates were dirty with bread crumbs in them. Picked up 3 frying pans they were all not washed very well and were greasy by this time I felt I needed a ciggarett as I was disoppinted so went out side to the court yard off the kitchen to have a ciggarett picked an ash tray which was there to be used and it was full of disgusting beetles.
The staircase to the bedrooms are very narrow and sharp and dangerous for kids and old people. The double bed on the first floor it's more like a large single and not big enough for two adault to sleep and move comfortably. View from the bedroom balcony is a building site right opposite and two dirty and over grown gardens of next door neighbours .
The owner were not understanding why we didn't like their place and were not helpfull at all .

Management Response
5 Mar 2015
This couple arrived with their small dog after driving from the Marbella area. They had booked to stay for the weekend. After 4 hours we received a phone call to say they were leaving as their dog kept barking at the front door and refused to settle in the house. The wanted a 100% refund. My husband and I discussed this and decided we could refund them all their money except a small token amount - we felt it was fair to keep this as we had bought provisions (which they had eaten) and would have to re-launder bedding and towels and re-clean the house. The couple were not happy about this and said we did not need to re-launder the bedding even though they had slept on the bed. They went away very angry - and then wrote the above review which is completely spiteful and untruthful. There is plenty of parking outside Casa Verde, the stairs are not narrow and dangerous, there is not a building site across the road etc. I could go on and refute all of their criticisms …. I suppose this is one we have to put down to experience.

“Casa Verde, perfect place to relax with friends”
Reviewed 21 June 2014 for a stay in May 2014

Arrived by car around 2 in the morning to find the property was nicely lit and provisions waiting in the fridge, a bottle of wine, beer, bread and cheese etc., The house is beautifully decorated with lots of character. A fusion of Spanish, North African and Indonesian furniture and fittings create a comfortable laid back atmosphere, the perfect place to chill.
Kitchen was very well equipped for those who want to cook but the food was so good in the bars around the square we didn't use it much. Both and shower rooms were well appointed with plenty of hot water (let it run for a while) and good water pressure for showers. House is on 3 storeys with steps down to kitchen and again to 2 garden levels. Need to be reasonably fit and reasonably sober to handle them.
We are two couples aged 50 - 65 and we had a great time staying at Casa Verde in Alhama. Bar Tigre and Antonio are not to be missed, his selection of tapas just keeps coming and coming! The food at La Seguiriya was superb, well worth a visit.
Pam and Neil were friendly and approachable and always available if you needed them. They were happy to let us stay in the house as long as we wanted to on our day of departure.
We have already recommended Casa Verde to our friends and colleagues and will be back ourselves in the future.
