A happy, welcoming bar, very Spanish and informal, squeezed into a corner of a bustling plaza in the old district of Peñafiel. I'm quite addicted to the sandwich mixto and theirs is probably the best I've ever had! Excellent vino de casa, but then this is in the heart of the Ribero valley, surrounded by wineries. The service was good but a little slow, which suited us and gave us time to relax and people-watch.

I was giving a tour to an american couple, and while they were at lunch, we stopped in here. we ate at the bar, rustic and castilian. Nice service, we ordered a plate of local cheese, wine, pisto (a veggie stew), and some russian potato salad. With coffee, it came to 23 euros! Not too bad, and we finished in about 45 minutes to catch my clients for the continuation of their tour. Would go back for a more leisurely lunch.

We were looking for somewhere to have lunch & followed some locals into this busy bar with a dining room in the back. We each had a menu del dia and as we liked the first course selections best, the waitress/kitchen were kind enough to let us choose 2 first courses each instead of a first course & a second course. We loved every single course that we chose & the house wine was excellent. The waitress was super helpful & took the time to explain menu items to us. This was a really great value for money lunch!!

In between visiting bodegas, we needed to get some food into our system. The lady at the front desk of our hotel recommended this place, so we went in search of it. at first we didn't find it as the sign is way up high on the side of the building, so we ended up having tapas in the bar across the street. luckily I checked the menu of the day of Chicopa on the board outside and ended up ordering two first plates, the jamon con melon and the lentils or lentejas con chorizo. Wow! both excellent, we enjoyed so much we went back for dinner!

Lovely restaurant on the village square. Usually known for their tapas. We followed locals and watched where they went eat. Three menus were available at Euros 10.30, 15.80 and VIP at 29.25. The menus are eaten in the back in the "smarter" dining and all include either water or wine. English was limited but the local menu of the day was quickly translated and printed for us. We lunched at 13h30 and were the first, but towards a shade after 14h00, it filled up. Food was served fast, service was excellent. Food varied from excellent to okay depending what you order but you can't beat Euro 10.30!
