It was the first time to Matakana for us and we stayed in the Tower Suite at Matakana Castle which was a fabulous room. The view was great (even though is was raining) and the room was really nice. Very clean and tastefully decorated it was great.
The area has lovely wineries and eating places and we really enjoyed the Sculpture Park that was near by.
Our hosts were great. We had nibbles and a glass of wine on arrival and got to chat to the other guests. The breakfast was really yummy that we had on the last day of our stay and we found John and Natalie very friendly with loads of info on the castle.
Would recommend staying here, we will definitely be back.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Matakana Castle. There are some gorgeous drives and walks to discover in the surrounding areas, we ate at some fabulous places. Our hosts John and Nat are such lovely people, we really enjoyed chatting to them and the breakfasts each morning were amazing, especially the homemade muesli!!

We would definitely recommend staying at this lovely place.

Thanks, Mike and Jenny

We had a lovely couple of nights at Matakana Castle, very cosy and warm with a real log fire. A great location for exploring the area. The view from the property is fabulous. A great getaway for the weekend. A big thank you to our hosts for making us feel so welcome.

Room tip: All have great views.

We stayed in the Tower Suite and it was both spacious and luxurious. The views from our suite and the lounge were over countryside to the gulf and extended to the Coromandel - a million dollar view. Natalie and John were lovely hosts and the breakfasts were delightful. We were totally spoilt with the open fire in the lounge roaring when we returned after a day out and in the morning when we went down to breakfast. Three days weren't enough!

We took the two downstairs rooms which were very clean, spacious and comfortable. The hosts were extremely friendly and very hospitable. Lovely touches included drinks and nibbles on the first night, great bathroom products and biscuits/chocolates in the room. Lovely lounge area and breakfast was delicious. Fantastic rooms and plenty to do and see in the area. We hope to be back soon and would definitely recommend this to anyone looking for a peaceful and comfortable stay in Matakana. Thanks so much.
