Recently booked 5 Bach's for a family wedding. The Bach's were spotlessly clean which is always a must on holiday. The Bach for us, 4 cousins was roomy comfortable and thoughtful. With a family size weber and picnic wine glasses for our outdoor use. Arriving at night the temperature was cool and the option of the fireplace was convenient and provided the warmth we were seeking. Other places we found warmth was through the staff. Reception, housekeeping, maintenance were all extremely friendly and helpful. The location is picture post card perfect.

There is a lovely small town a few minutes drive from Riverside Matakana. Choice of cafes, village movie theatre, country butchery and bakeries. The air is clean and fresh with the beach a walk away.

The facilities at Riverside Matakana are suited to children and adults with a tennis court, kayaks and the pool being heated too. I cannot wait to visit Riverside Matakana again soon. I would not hesitate to recommend this stunning relaxing and beautiful countryside of Riverside Matakana. Thank you Michael and team for the wonderful hospitality.

Regards,
S. Cecil

We Stayed for just 1 night at the end of the Labour Weekend holiday , deciding to stay to avoid Auckland traffic. On arrival we meet our host Michael who was very friendly and gave us a guided tour of the grounds before showing us to our Bach. What an amazing setup nestled amongst the lovely vineyard and olive groves , panoramic 300 degree views of the hills and beautiful inlet looking out towards Kawau. The bach had 2 x queens and 2 x singles in a seperate sleepout , it was well appointed with great bathrooms and a functional modern kitchenette. The lounge area had fabulous furniture and a gas fire to sit infront of on those winter nights with one of Matakanas many outstanding wines. Overall i cant say enough about the experience it was outstanding. We are already planning our return visit to Matakana and will use Riverside as our base for a few days most definitely , Thanks Michael for a wonderful experience.

The rooms have capacity for 2 queen bedrooms and a sleepout with 2 singles
Waking up in the morning to bird noises, kingfishers, rabbits, pheasants, looking over grapevines, and countryside rolling hills - what a wonderful relaxing start and finish to the day. Cooking facilities are okay, laundry in the units. Very clean and comfortable.the service is very good and we wanted for nothing. There is no restaurant facilities on site but Matakana is a short drive away.
Conference facilities were good also. And food was available for this- breakfast, lunch, dinner and mid morning and afternoon breaks. Tasty and fresf food.
We spent 2 nights leisure and one night business
This is not a hotel, it is cabin type accommodation

Room Tip: These are cabin type accommodation and all the same

We stayed here as part of a large group attending a wedding nearby. The best thing is the gorgeous surrounds - from the deck of any of the apartments there are stunning views of the New Zealand countryside.
The apartments themselves can be set up in such a way to suit a number of different sleeping arrangements. If I was being overly critical I would say the dividing partitions between the bedrooms and the main living area are perhaps not thick or solid enough for true privacy, but this may not bother some people. The bedrooms in the main apartment area are arguably nicer than the third stand-alone bedroom. Because our group had hired three apartments all together, it was great that we could easily socialise together but also have time apart if necessary.
The beds were warm and comfortable, the bathrooms were clean and supplied with sustainable toiletries. The entire property seems to have a real focus on minimising environmental impact, which is nice.
You can also use the tennis courts free of charge, and there are several pleasant walks from the apartments.

A fabulous set up - cosy fire, beautiful quiet setting and very comfortable. We only had one night (sans kids) and wished it was longer! Would highly recommend! It is a little way from Matakana so you'll need a car - or organise a taxi in advance. Alternatively, do what we did and take advantage of the great local wine and produce and dine in.
