Owner description: An all day cruise through the beautiful Marlborough Sounds delivering mail and groceries to remote and secluded properties. The Pelorus Sound is the largest of the Sounds and the Mail Boat is a lifeline to the people living in this boat access wonderland. You will hear a great selection of stories about life in the sounds, its history, and how the mail has been delivered like this since 1918.You will also get to experience the marine and bird life in the area including 5 types of Dolphins, Australasian Gannets, rare Shags, Seals and many more.A full Mussel Farm tour is also included and there is usually an opportunity to see the Mussel Boats operating during harvesting or seeding. We will stop off at a local lodge and passengers are able to buy lunch or bring your own lunch and come with us to a local farm for a tour. You will also be able to enjoy a bush walk or swim if you would like. We are now operating 7 days in summer, which is November to April.

This was a joy to ride the boat and watch the young men deliver mail. What a gorgeous day on Lake Geneva. Everyone from the captain to the mail people were professional the boat was clean the weather was perfect and I would recommend this to everyone. We tore the lake and also got a nice tour of the lake where many famous people live in the summer.

Thank Connie J

We had a great time on mail boat. Commentary was excellent as was the untouched scenery. We saw dolphins playing which was great. Dogs, a pig and goat greeted us at various mail drops. The locals were friendly. Two caps that flew off heads were recovered.
One lass had a cell phone fall out of her pocket into a hard to reach space beside the raised ramp. So we had to wait until we docked for it to be recovered otherwise it would have had a 'swim'. Staff were fantastic helping us rescue the phone. Kiwi ingenuity, patience and a piece of No 8 wire saw the phone successfully recovered without it dropping into water below. Thank you to the Skipper & Fern for their help in the recovery.
Great trip I would fully recommend to all and it is accessible. Have warm clothes in case weather changes.
