“We finally arrived!”
Review of United Airlines

Reviewed 24 July 2019

Weather is weather and you can't do much about it. Due to thunderstorms in St. Louis our flight did not get to Houston in time to make the connecting flight. Weather happens. Upon leaving the plane in Houston we were directed to a fight which was already full. To get to the point we learned the employees at the customer service desks are low in seniority, and therefore have less experience resulting in slower answers and in our case simply suggested we just stay overnight in Houston. Those agents working at the gates generally have more seniority and can actually be helpful in a timely fashion.
Moral of the story - go to an almost empty gate with someone in the airline's uniform to get a more accurate, timely, helpful answer.

Called to get seat assignments because we have minor children with us and mid-way after explaining my groups situation the very rude lady hangs up on me - AFTER WAITING ON HOLD FOR A HALF HR!!!! I will NEVER fly United again. Ridiculous that they will not guarantee a parent to sit next to a 2 year old!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I’ve always traveled United but this was the worst. Yes the storm hit the day before but when the airline post for 24 hours, the flight is on time. You as a consumer expect they know what they are talking about. My flight stated on time until 1 hour before time to board. Then they informed us that they don’t have a crew to fly the flight, they have to wait for them to arrive from Houston. Then someone had the bright idea to say they will place us on a Delta flight to JFK in NY. Our bags were loaded but our ticket was not correct so our bags went to NY and we were stuck in New Orleans. Long story short, our 7:45 flight left at 11:15 and my bags was delivered to me 5 days later. The compensation for this was $100 in travel vouchers. No more United for me for a while. This left a bad taste in my mouth.

Nice flight & arrived early!! Food, drinks, and snacks were great. Seating was just big enough not to feel cramped.

Our flight was scheduled to leave on the 18th of July at 11AM. At 7AM THAT MORNING we received an sms notifying us that the flight had been cancelled due to bad weather in New York City. The link on the SMS was useless as it showed there were no other flights that day. We phoned their call center and waited for 25 minutes just to be told that they couldn’t help us as there are no other flights with any other airlines for the 18th. The lady on the phone was unhelpful and we had to give her names of other airports she could try look at. We had a flight out of New York on the 19th so we needed one urgently.
They gave us a full refund and told us to “have a nice day”
We then booked a flight with Jet Blue leaving at 3PM on the 18th. You see Jet Blue didn’t cancel their flight like the idiots over at United, but rather delayed it.
The weather cleared, the plane left at 3PM and we arrived in New York, only to see many other planes touching down in weather United Airlines deemed “unfavorable”.
If you’re going to cancel a flight, at least have a customer care line that provides actual, useful information and can help rebook.
