“5 hour flight which seemed longer”
Review of United Airlines

Reviewed 11 December 2018

Although this was a 5 hour flight it felt longer. The flight was delayed (first because the plane was late and then they lost the crew). No food was served on the flight but we had bought a sandwich from the airport and a drink (after security) which made the flight a bit better. The in flight entertainment was via an app on your tablet/smart phone which you have to download prior to boarding

Fairly average US flight. The food is not existent as all you get is a water and a bag of pretzels. The seats were quite close together and everything felt a bit squashed

on plane on tarmac, mechanical problems so back to terminal; one hour later on plane with door shut and then they tell us the pilots were not legally able to work for another 6 hours so off the plane we go.So new pilots arrive 2 hours later but we cannot get on because plane needs to be clean. Mean time another 2 United flights depart and we are told our bags are still on original plane so advise against changing. Finally after another 2 hours the plane is cleaned ( and a new flight attendants have arrived ) but we were never told that was reason for delay . 71/2 hours of delays. In SF ours are waiting from earlier flights!!

I have the United Card that gives me access to the lounges, where I can work during wait overs. I had one in Houston this time, usually fly out of ERW in Newark for Europe, and use the clubs there. The airlines are redoing the clubs, I use to be able to get a shower, no more, they have done aways with them. I have had my ups and downs with United so to speak, but an airline cannot control the weather. The people at the Gate at Houston were especially polite, and gave me good head start, because I had knee replacement, and I am no spring chicken. They are always accomodating.

The flight itself was about what I expected. However when we landed it was a little late and I had no idea what gate I needed to be at and only had a half hour. The gentleman was waiting when we disembarked to tell us the gates. he told me the gate number which was well away from the gate I landed at. Thank goodness I stopped and asked a cart driver where it was and he offered to take me. I got there as the plane was almost done loading. If it hadn't been for airport personnel, I would have missed it. I was not impressed that United couldn't have called for a cart in the first place due to the late arrival Next time I'll fly Delta or Alaska
