“Dulles to SAN Non-stop”
Review of United Airlines

Reviewed 4 weeks ago

Non-stop beats the heck out of multi-stop or plane changes even if the plane is fully booked. Book early and get aisle seats or you are destined to be crawling over others to go to the single set of bathrooms in the back of the plane. The snack offerings are not what they used to be. A small bag of pretzels and a small plastic cup of Coke. Such is the status of penny-pinching air carriers who charge extra for everything! Beats driving I guess!

We took a direct flight from DIA into Los Cabos on United. There was a little hiccup on the way out with some equipment. They had to change out our airplane which put us behind schedule by a little over an hour. But United kept everyone informed of the situation and when the new equipment arrived, the flight attendants and everyone involved got us on our way as quickly as they could. On the flight back, we were (very kindly) upgraded and the flight attendants serving us were extraordinarily helpful and nice!

Everything went as expected. The staff was helpful and friendly both at the check-in and the flight. Leg room was a little small but the seats were fine. Departure and arrival times were as scheduled. It was an over-all comfortable experience.

We chose United Airlines for our recent trip to Santa Fe, New Mexico. While we usually fly Jet Blue, or Southwest, this flight seemed the easiest (and only) way to get to Santa Fe without having to land an hour away in Albuquerque. My husband and I had aisle and middle seats in the 25th row of a 737. The plane seemed to be on the older side. The seat was small (we are both a bit taller than average and slim) and there was no leg room. My legs were cramped against the seat in front of me and when the person in front of me reclined, he was essentially in my lap. On the four hour flight (each way) this was not comfortable and it was hard to find a way to relax! Also, having to pay extra to watch the tv screen on the back of the seat in front of me seemed excessive. Beware of economy basic and standard economy. If you chose basic, you are not even allowed a carry on. ( Fortunately, we had chosen standard). From Denver to Santa Fe, we flew on a regional 36 seater jet. This was actually more comfortable than the 737 seat wise. It was fine for the 41 minute smoothe flight. But, If like me you are terrified by turbulence ( which we experienced on the way home), you may want to fly on the bigger jet to Albuquerque (also requires a stop somewhere from Hartford). The flights was had no perks and the pretzels and drink don't cut if for a long flight when you are missing a meal....We managed to pack for a week in carry on luggage. We did not want to risk lost luggage.

Flight was approximately 8 hours. Seating is 2, 3, 2. We were able to get 2 seats together by a window instead of the 3 seats in the middle of plane. Comfortable seats but tight leg room. Be aware that United does not use real people to check you in. Must use the computers in terminal to get boarding pass and check luggage. No problems we had booked on line weeks before. Flight left and arrived on time and had plenty of movies to pass the time. Customs in Rome was fast and efficient but was very slow when we came back to Newark. Overall flight went well with no complaints.
