“Problems with space between seats A330 300 to Washington”
Review of Swiss International Air Lines [SWISS]

Reviewed 5 weeks ago

My plane was A330 300 and almost everybody had great problems with sitting , because there were not enough space for streching legs, to stand up and went to tioilet was a special operation, almost impossible to do that if you are older than 60 years old, because you need alpinistic movements to get out of your seat. of course food was good and staff extremly polite, but for 9 hrs sitting there was a nightmare.

I had booked a flight with Swiss Airlines from Delhi to Birmingham, with a layover in Zurich. Unfortunately, our journey was marred by multiple issues that I believe Swiss airlines already knew about and hence they are running this scam.

1.Missed Connecting Flight: Due to a delayed departure from Delhi, we missed our connecting flight in Zurich, resulting in an 8-hour delay. We were stranded at Zurich Airport , Despite our inquiries, we received little support or assistance from the airline staff at Zurich Airport.
2.
Rebooking Only to London
: Instead of rebooking us directly to Birmingham, as per our original booking, Swiss Airlines only managed to rebook us on a flight to London, causing further complications in our travel plans.
3.
Confusion and Delay with Ground Transportation
: Upon arrival in London, I was informed that our onward travel from London to Birmingham would be by train. However, after passing through immigration and collecting our baggage, I discovered that the arrangement was actually a bus transfer instead of a train. This unexpected change, combined with only 90 minutes to manage immigration, baggage, and ground transport details, added substantial stress and delay to our journey.
4.
Delay in Arrival at Final Destination
: Originally, we were scheduled to arrive at Birmingham Airport at 8:00 am, but due to the series of delays, we did not reach home until 9:45 pm—a delay of nearly 14 hours.
5.
Unprofessional Conduct by Airline Staff
: Throughout this ordeal, we encountered rude and unprofessional behaviour from both the in-flight crew and the ground staff at Zurich Airport. This treatment only added to our frustration, as the staff seemed indifferent to the concerns of passengers affected by the delays.

Its defiantly a scam and Swiss Airlines are running this scam to steal money from its victims. The flight from Delhi LX-147 delays giving very little time to catch the connecting flight to Birmingham (LX-420) which is from another Terminal at Zurich Airport , even if the flight lands on scheduled time 06:20 AM , it is not possible to catch the connecting flight which departs at 07:00 AM. Even if someone manage to reach the gates, it is never possible for them to transfer the luggage to other airplane in such a short time, hence its a scam. Similar is the case with connecting flights to London Heathrow airport.

I have registered the complaint but have no trust in this scam airlines if they'll refund and compensate me.
Because of them, My wife and myself missed our offices, my kid missed his school and was extremely distressed .
I want refund and compensation for my family for this harassment, distress caused and precious time lost.

Unfortunately, I have had bad experiences flying with (Swiss International Air Lines). My last flight with it was a disaster. Flight delays, delayed luggage and when you complain you get nothing.☹️

A fairly decent airline with fine service and fair food quality. The seats for comfortable for a short-distance flight.

- We paid over €1500 each months in advance for two return tickets to Sri Lanka from Berlin and NOT ONE SINGLE FLIGHT was operated by Swiss Air.

- Firstly, when our honeymoon was meant to begin, they denied boarding to my wife and I in Berlin because they'd overbooked the flight and they claimed the whole time that it's standard procedure and legal for them to do it. Despite us pointing out that we had two other connecting flights, they denied boarding to us and about 10 or more shocked, distraught, and horrified passengers who couldn't understand why this so-called reputable European airline was treating them like dirt. Swiss Air's practice of "legal 10%" overbooking is utterly disgraceful and completely unethical - a fact they did not deny, but instead dryly pointed to their assertion that it's legal for them to do it - perhaps to quiet those who have their lawyers on speed dial. Swiss Air are essentially selling you something they cannot or will not deliver and are therefore employing scam tactics.

I have never been treated with such contempt by an airline, and that's including the likes of the notorious low cost European airlines. So well done, Swiss. You're officially the worst.

- Back at the BER Lufthansa check-in in search of a desperate second option after having been dealt the trauma that our honeymoon is likely in tatters, plus the further embarrassment of exiting security and being forced to pick up our own bag, Lufthansa couldn't offer us anything so they instead approached the good graces of QATAR. It was a lovely, understanding guy from QATAR Airways who ended up delivering a last minute miracle by squeezing us onto a much better and faster QATAR Airways flight.
In the end, we actually arrived in Colombo earlier than planned due to the great connection with QATAR. This one employee from single-handedly saved our trip whilst nobody from the Lufthansa group seemed willing or able to assist us out of a nightmare situation.

I wish that were the end of my review, but the journey home, which was also meant to be with Swiss Air, was almost equally as awful.

- Our SriLankan Airlines flight to Mumbai was cancelled so Swiss rebooked us with a SriLankan Airways flight to Frankfurt, but only to Frankfurt. We booked at return trip from Berlin! They also completely failed to notify me of the flight changes. I only noticed because I wanted to make sure we were guaranteed a seat by checking in online, as I assume with great confidence this was their initial unspoken reason for denying us boarding in Berlin (because we didn't give them extra revenue by choosing seats or adding any extras to already overpriced tickets)

- Frantically, with my phone and hotel Wi-Fi, I was able to get through the useless Swiss Air AI-chatbot and explain to an actual human being that they still needed to get us home to Berlin, not Frankfurt.

- If you're still reading this, you're probably as perplexed at how poorly we were treated up to this point.

- The only positive thing I can say about Swiss Air is that they gave us 250€ compensation each, which we used as spending money on our honeymoon, but this aside, I will never, EVER book with Swiss Air again. I'm even going to apply for more compensation since a 17-hour journey with SriLankan airlines is not what I paid for and thought they got us home, it was 12 hours later than planned. (SriLankan is also an airline I'd stay far, far away from)

Bottom line: Swiss Air will take your money then outsource the actual flying to other airlines. They are the worst, the absolute worst. Avoid at all costs.
