I was quite excited about our Swiss Air flight from Zurich to Hong Kong, especially as we were flying Premium Economy this time.
The Premium Economy seats looked great, with their own boxed in area, and clearly better appointed than the normal Economy seats further back.
How mistaken I was ...... being a big guy (6'4"), the first fail point were the seatbelts with shoulder straps. It was too tight to keep on my shoulder, so I actually unhitched the shoulder strap for the duration of the flight, take-off and landing included. The seatbelt lock buckle strap was also so short it was a struggle to clip in the latch without me having to move completely sideways, and then the belt became very tight and limiting.
Next, the legroom ..... it was great while sitting normally upright, as one would expect from Premium Economy, but as the seats are encapsulated within a boxed in area, as soon as you try to recline the seat (which does not recline back towards the passenger behind as normal) ..... there goes the legroom completely ...... would have been OK if I was able to remove both legs!!
Service was very good however, as was the meal selection and entertainment system.
So, notwithstanding the discomfort of the seatbelt and not being able to recline the seat for 12 hours, the flight did pass ........ had to stay awake most of the night though, and watch movies!!!
