“Super awesome crew!”
Review of Southwest Airlines

Reviewed 4 weeks ago

I want to share an incident that occurred on Aug 27, 2024, my early morning flight from SFO to Las Vegas. A passenger seated at the other end of my row appeared to wake up feeling unwell about 45 minutes after takeoff. He mentioned to those around him that he was experiencing discomfort and felt like he might throw up. A fellow passenger immediately alerted the crew, and by that time, the man had nearly passed out in his seat.

The flight attendants responded quickly and professionally. They helped him lie down, placed icy wet towels on his forehead and neck, and one of them brought him orange juice, which he drank. Another crew member removed his jacket to make him more comfortable. Remarkably, within seconds, the passenger started to recover. One flight attendant stayed by his side, engaging him in conversation to ensure he was feeling better.

It was incredible to see how swiftly and calmly the crew handled the situation. If the fellow passenger hadn’t called for help or the flight attendants hadn’t acted as quickly as they did, this situation could have had a much worse outcome.

The care and professionalism of the #Southwest crew were truly impressive. Although I was nervous and shocked at first, their composed and efficient actions reassured everyone. They truly saved him that day!

This was my first experience flying with Southwest, and after witnessing how dependable and caring their crew was, I look forward to flying with them again. Kudos to the Southwest team!

Wow! I booked a flight and tried to keep an open mind because I had never flown Southwest before. The trip from Detroit to Chicago and Chicago to Las Vegas went fine on the way there on the 6th. The terrible service happened when we boarded the flight in Las Vegas at 7:30 on flight 3066 on the morning of the 8th. The airline flight attendants were extremely rude and snappy with us. You would ask a question and they would have a smart answer as if they did not want to be there, then they would bump into you on the way down the aisle and say nothing. I asked one of the flight attendants did she have hot chocolate and instead of saying no, she snapped and said I've got coffee!!!!
The only reason I didn't give this review zero Stars was because the flight attendants from Chicago to Detroit where much more pleasant on flight 3504. They were extremely courteous, friendly and very professional. I would recommend Southwest to a friend, but I would tell them about our experience and then let them judge for themselves.

My son and I were scheduled for a return flight from Salt Lake City to Memphis through Houston on 7/7/24. We were alerted on 7/6 and again on 7/7 by email of the inclement weather (Hurricane Beryl). When I arrived at the airport I spoke to Southwest agents and the supervisor that I did not want to fly into Houston if our flight out that evening would be canceled.

30 minutes before boarding our flight to Memphis from Houston was canceled. The Southwest supervisor in Salt Lake City alerting passengers and taking them off of the flight if their flights out of Houston were delayed. The supervisor told us that we must get on the plane even though our flight to Memphis had already been canceled. I pleaded with the supervisor, not to put us on a plane, only to be stuck in a hurricane when our flight had already been canceled. I explained that we would be happy to stay the night in Salt Lake City and be rerouted the next day as long as we were not going to be in the path of the hurricane.
The supervisor refused to help me, and we were the only passengers on the plane with a canceled connecting flight. This sealed our fate to ride out the hurricane in Houston for two days with over 2 million people without power (The largest power outage in Houston history)
Rental cars were not available and we barely made it to a hotel about one hour before the hurricane hit. For two days, we relied on emergency meals in the hotel with absolutely no power to even charge our phones. No restaurants, stores or gas stations were open and no flights went out the following day.

I spent hours on the phone with Southwest and they offered absolutely zero help. This all could’ve been avoided if they would have allowed me to stay in Salt Lake City at my own expense until they could find a new route to Memphis the following day.

My experience with Southwest Airlines staff and customer service was the worst I have ever had with any airline. I even had Southwest Airlines agents at the gates in Houston that night tell me that there is no reason they should have sent me to Houston other than they just did not want to have to deal with rerouting me from Salt Lake City. Completely unacceptable.

I had one of the most traumatic travel experiences with Southwest Airlines. I was flying to Seattle, Washington, for business on Tuesday, August 27th, with the flight scheduled to leave Chicago Midway Airport at 3:45 PM and arrive in Seattle at 6:10 PM. This timing was perfect because I had plans to meet with business partners for dinner at 8 PM.

Unfortunately, that didn’t happen. I understand that delays and challenges can occur in the airline industry, but when these issues start to affect a customer’s emotional well-being, it becomes a serious problem.

The flight from Chicago Midway Airport to Seattle was initially on time. We boarded, fastened our seatbelts, and were ready to take off, but we ended up sitting on the runway for about 10 to 15 minutes. The captain then announced that the plane appeared to be overweight due to extra cargo going to Dallas and that they were working on resolving the issue, expecting us to be on our way within 15 minutes. That didn’t happen either.

About 10 minutes after the captain’s announcement, a ground supervisor informed us that extra cargo was being removed from the plane due to the weight issue, and that we should be ready to depart in another 15 minutes. Instead, we sat on the runway for three hours. During this time, no one offered us even a drink of water. Passengers were complaining, trying to understand what was going on. After two hours, the captain announced that we should be moving shortly, but some passengers needed to use the restroom and were told they had to hold it. Finally, after a total of three hours sitting on the runway at Midway, we took off, only to face an additional four-plus hours in the air.

In total, we were on that plane for seven hours. By the time we landed in Seattle and I reached my hotel, it was after 10 PM.

This is simply unacceptable. While I’m not an expert in travel or aviation, it’s clear that someone significantly dropped the ball here. A cup of water, soda, juice, or an extra bag of snacks does not make up for this experience.

I contacted Southwest about this, and I was assured someone would actually follow up with me. Well, guess what? I haven’t heard from a single person! Instead, they just tossed me a measly $50 voucher like that’s supposed to fix everything. Unbelievable.

This is my umpteenth trip with Southwest and the last dozen or more trips have ALL been delayed. Book a flight that leaves at 3pm? Don’t expect to actually board until 4-5pm. But today takes the cake, I had a 3:55pm flight and around 1:30pm I was notified the flight was delayed 35 minutes - not a great sign given how early it was. I proceeded to get two additional notifications that pushed my flight to 7:20pm. Now it’s allegedly leaving at 7:10pm. No explanation. No compensation. Not even a drink voucher. Southwest may be a “cheaper” flight option but you end up paying the difference with HOURS of wasted time and re-scheduling your life. I’m done. No more Southwest trips for me. Fool me once? More like I’m a fool for continuing to give them money. Shame on this airline. Shame on company.
