waiting for a flight to Sydney i get a text the plane will be over 4 hours delayed. Its a one hour flight. I am over Jetstar and their delays, terrible service, the only problem is the other main carrier Virgin is just as bad. There is no accountability or penalty and refund for their delays. Now I am left missing a meeting today because of their poor service.
Troy at the check in counter in Wellington was very kind and helpful. He also explained how it all worked to us very patiently. First time travelling with Jetstar/quantas and we will be back. Thanks for your help Troy - from two lost travellers!
The joy of having 'defeated' Jetstar and flying to Bali with less than 7kg was immense. (well 7.3 kg + the 1.5kg Macbook stuffed down the back of my jeans and 2kg of clothes sneakily jammed into the lining of the neck pillow case whilst wearing 3 shirts, a sweater and a coat on a 32c day.
Doing 5 countries in 3 weeks with a visit home to Australia meant I needed to only carry hand luggage to get thru airports quick. Travelling 12-14 times per year in Europe, I've seen it all but surely no one gets close to Jetstar's level of making it impossibility to travel - even for a weekend away - without paying a hefty additional fee. So I took it on a challenge and left about 15kg of clothes in Aus for my poor 82 year old mother with a very bad back - a fused back in fact - to carry to the UK later in the year (see what you have made me do to my mother Jetstar). But I LOVE a challenge and everyone loves the little Aussie battler defeating the big guy. In Fact the sweet sweet taste of the victory of NOT paying for luggage remains even 2 months later.
Ironically all of this only arose because your marketing - that suggests that it is possible for persons in economy to upgrade their cabin luggage to 14kg - is akin to a Peter Dutton press conference (full of things that can't be delivered ).
45 mins of my life I'll never get back, trying multiple times to 'upgrade' cabin baggage to a sensible weight so I could scoot through Denpasar airport without hanging around like Schapelle Corby waiting for a boogie board bag.
But alas it can't be done by persons who have booked Economy class to Bali. "No sir, not for you plebs in steerage class. Thou shall be condemned to only 7 kg"
With the money I saved on baggage, I bought a new pair of shoes, a bottle of rum and a new phone and still had money left over.. So thank you Jetstar, I would have never have been able to afford these little luxuries if the option to pay a week's wages to upgrade to 14kg cabin luggage was actually available
P.S. As a shy person I'm forever terrified of aussie airline staff barking at me like cattle dogs rounding up sheep, but your Bali route seems to be largely Indonesians. What a wonderfully pleasant change. Smiling, laughing, helpful and able to get things done without acting like a prison guard. More Indos please and I'll fly again
Makasih 🙏
Absolutely abysmal service. Flew with Jetstar from new chitose to Narita airport, a short 1 hr 45 minute flight (that was delayed by another 1hr 30). Around 30 passengers and I find our suitcases to be missing. A Jetstar spokesperson was provided who could barely speak English, and therefore was useless in helping. Where I was told our suitcases would arrive in another 6 hours, which they expected us to wait. I couldn’t do this as I had a flight in 4 hours. So I gave my final address to the spokesperson and they insisted that my suitcase will arrive, they don’t know when - but it will arrive and then quickly shooed me off. After 4 days of waiting yesterday I received a call from Jetstar stating that my suitcase has been left in Brisbane airport indefinitely and to call their helpline if I wanted that to change. So I did, the automated helpline promised a 17minute wait. I ended up waiting 4 HOURS! How is this excusable!? And now today I receive an email stating that my suitcase is still left in Brisbane airport and my case lodged with Jetstar will now be closed!? So now I’m left out of pocket as I’ve had to purchase emergency supplies and with no hope of return for my suitcase! I don’t know what to do!
Never fly with Jetstar - the only company I’ve ever met that actually hates their customers. Might I add that along the whole process all the staff I’ve interacted with have been rude, abrupt and cold, making it very clear I was nothing more than a nuisance to them. Disgusting service. I will never touch Jetstar with a 10 ft pole and I will dedicate my life’s work to losing customers from them. Every family member, friend and random stranger I can convince not to fly Jetstar I will see as a great success to stealing revenue from Jetstar and running this rotten airline into the ground.
