What an absolute terrible Airline!! All the employees are absolutely miserable and just seem to be so unhappy to be there. Upon arrival at check in, we were charged an additional $100 for an overweight bag. While I completely understand being charged because it was overweight, $100 is excessive considering that is costs $50.00 to check an additional bag. Just because they can rip you off, doesn't mean that they should! At the gate, there was a family struggling with a disabled child, and while we were trying to help them, we were yelled at by the gate agent to keep moving on. No one from the airline was helping this family. The gate agents were rude and could have just been a bit nicer. We travel for a living and I do realize that buying a ticket does not come with entitlement. However, a smile, or being polite would go a long way. I will never fly with this airline again if I can help it!

So, recently went on a business retreat with one of my companies and flew American. As we went to depart Cancun we were informed of a delay 2 hr ,4 hr you need to look for another flight to get out of Cancun. So with a line of entire plane looking to get out of Cancun we went back and forth with customer service finally getting a flight out many hours later that we missed our connecting flight to go home, so then we started another journey while all checkout lanes were closed due to the whole plane complaining and trying to find a way home. We were put in hotel for 4 hrs to get on another flight to not home and landed in that airport with another 2hr ,3hr, 5 hr delay ,We had to board or pets for another day , miss days of work and the most important miss the 6th bday of a son . With all this inconvince the airline offered us a 50 travel credit ..lol
Do not fly this airline customer service is si bad they dont even have a phone number !

Needed to fly to San Diego for funeral. Flight was scheduled to depart at 10:39. Flight cancelled less than an hour before departure, delayed until 6:00pm. What? Why? Seriously? No bad weather out of San Antonio. So little notice. Like you didn't know if you had enough pilots? Couldn't forecast weather changes? What reason for such a lengthy delay?
This is only the 3rd time we have used American. July 2024, flew brother home to California from San Antonio. His layover in DFW was delayed from 6:00pm until the following morning at 5:00 am. No hotels available. Brother is not experienced at flying so he stayed at the airport ALL NIGHT!!! Our family will certainly not being using American Airlines ever again. I will pay the extra cost and use a different airline moving forward. And we have flown on Delta, United, Hawaiian, Southwest. American just seems to not have their act together EVER!!!! Something definitely needs to change. I can't see my family being the only family that feels this way

If you’re expecting quality service, this is definitely not the airline you should book your flight with. Employees are rude and don’t try to solve your problem. The compartments are extremely small and they made me check my carry on because “they didnt have enough space” so build a plane that has space. Nowadays the prices are outrageous and i already paid for a checked bag, and whatever i had with me in my carry on was for my personal use during the flight, which is my right to have it with me at all times until they made me check it. This is ridiculous. In the past, I already flew American Airlines and I thought about trying again after almost 10 years flying other companies because they were they only option. Definitely the worst decision ever and now I know why I dont fly woth them. Worse airline. Terrible service. Terrible customer service. Terrible space.

WORST AIR TRAVEL EXPERIENCE OF MY LIFE!! I will NEVER use American Airlines again...would rather walk! They should be ashamed of how they conduct business and their customer service is non existent. I was a flight attendant for 17 years and in all my experiences I have never witnessed such a nightmare. If I could give a negative 5 stars I would...disgusted...
