Eternally delayed and overbooked. How is this airline always offering money to switch flights, running out of overhead space and constantly late?!?

I flew out 07.12.2024 from Orlando, connecting in Charlotte, NC then continuing to Milwaukee on an important business trip. I was made aware of my luggage being delayed just as I landed in Milwaukee. I followed the instructions and assumed that I would get my luggage (one piece of luggage by the way) sometime the same evening. Why did I assume? Well because I arrived at 5:45pm and there were multiple flights coming in from Charlotte still. Well first I was told that my luggage would arrive between 1am & 2am. My daily medications, all business attire, etc are in my luggage. It’s 07.13.2024, 11:16am and I still have no luggage. I now have been told that my luggage is on another flight scheduled to arrive here at 1:15pm. Then they had the audacity to tell me that I could purchase the contents of the luggage and that they would reimburse me at a later time. I already have had to spend money on certain items plus loose an entire days work due to this but American Airlines wants me to spend more money? Make it make sense? They could care less about making this right. Please do not fly American Airlines ever in your life!
Delayed flight for 3 hours. After onboarding we waited around 45 minutes in the airplane just to be told we had to go back to our gate. Flight was supposed to be at 10:40 PM July 12th. The next available flight was 12:00 PM on July 13th. No hotel, No help, Nothing. Almost 50 people stranded in the airport. Received a $12 voucher for a meal but everything is closed and what am I supposed to buy with $12? Had to spend the night in the airport freezing cold.
Thanks American Airlines, never giving you my business again.
Just for fun I booked First Class on this round trip. I was not on an upgrade. I paid the fare. As I get older I allow myself this luxury most of the time. I did not give them a one dot review because a couple of people were friendly. Let me say this. American Airlines first class is FAR from a first class experience. It is very much inferior to the experience on Delta and other airlines.
I flew four legs. Combining all four I received, two Diet Cokes, three bags of peanuts and two cups of water. I was not offered anything else. I could have asked for liquor I suppose. There was no food whatsoever onboard other than one bag of snacks per passenger. On the second leg of my very late return flight I was not offered anything at all. The flight attendants retreated to their galley, closed the drapes and did not emerge until we were on approach into Tucson. Maybe American Airlines could announce that in First Class, from now on, the honored passenger could have two packages of crackers. There is no in-flight entertainment at all. Not even a magazine. And just to add a bit of a twist, the seating was decidedly uncomfortable. The seats seemed old and hard. All four flights featured aircraft (Airbus and Boeing) that were fading fast. Or else it was just substandard upkeep.
Oh by the way. Unlike Delta and United, American's first class passengers are not allowed to use the First Class lounges in the airport.
Even boarding, with my group 1 boarding pass in hand was not without an insult. The called the flight and I was elbowed out of the way but someone shouting "you're not ConsiergeKey". I was asked to stand aside while this single passenger boarded the flight. I guess First Class boarding group one just doesn't quite make the grade anymore. There is something "higher" in the food chain. Maybe this guy got two peanuts.
Of course I wrote a polite note to American Airlines customer service and received a note saying they valued my opinion and would bring it up to management. In other words they blew me off.
I have very fond memories of flying American Airlines "back in the day". Elegant service. My experience stretches from the venerable Lockheed Connie to today. I appreciate great service. This once-proud American flagship carrier has, quite simply, become yet another ho-hum budget cattle car. Considering their dismissal of my concerns with a form letter, you would be well advised to assume that in the face of any problems in your travel, they are just not going to much care.
And that, gentle reader, is why this traveler with 1,350,000 travel points will never again fly American, unless there is absolutely no other choice.
American is absolutely the worst when it comes to on time fights. And they so called customer service counter at the airport in Charlotte is staffed by a group of rude people.
