Drove to TPA for 7:04pm American Airlines flight #228 to DCA / Flight was delayed departing by at least a half hour / After boarding and doors closing, we found out that the DCA to BUF connection was cancelled. That American Airlines flight # was 5241. / Called AA from the plane, spoke with customer service representative who first suggested that we sit in DC for 24 hours to take the 10pm flight the next night. / AA had already canceled the DCA to BUF flight before we took off from Tampa. So, to say it was weather related was a bit ridiculous. That flight was supposed to depart DCA at 10:30pm and arrive in BUF at 11:51pm. / Our flight from TPA to DCA was supposed to be a little over 2 hours, arriving at 9:27pm. We did not make it to DCA until 2am! / She also said that when we get to DCA we should ask a “gate agent” for a “Hotel Voucher”. When we got to DCA they almost laughed at us stating there are no “Hotel Vouchers” and everything is sold out. / We had to spend $240.34 on a Candlewood Suites, Alexandria West, room at the last minute, only getting to sleep in it for 4 hours. / We had to UBER to and from the hotel which cost us $62.07 one way and $41.98 to get back to DCA. /
