“Cancelled our 6am flight at 1am”
Review of American Airlines

Reviewed 9 July 2019 via mobile

AWFUL. We scheduled a 6am flight months ahead of our trip. The night before, around 9pm, the flight was canceled. An hour or so later it was uncanceled. Around 11:30, it was delayed. A few hours later it was officially canceled. My spouse called and was told the best American Airlines could do was to get us to our vacation destination 1.5 days later than we'd planned. We ended up cancelling. Just awful and a pain in the ***.

Flight was delayed and still have yet to get our bags... no information on why it’s taking over an hour for luggage to unload!

flying to Palm Springs thru Charlotte, then Dallas/ft. Worth ,then to Palm Springs. Delayed over an hour in Charlotte, causing at least 6 of us to miss our connecting flight out of Dallas. We were 10 minutes late, but plane would not wait. Thus, we had to spend the night in Dallas (American paid) and return for an 8am flight the next morning, which was also delayed 45 minutes or so. Not a good experience.

So I arrived in the USA with a fiancée visa, I missed my flight, and I paid some extra to travel. This agent was new, someone was training her. Once the other person left, she looked down at me and said something about my luggage, I was irritated and said “what are you doing there that you don’t help?” Then she started saying that she wasn’t my slave, that I was rude, and she kept insulting me even though I was done arguing. Then she charged me more money to check my bag, she said she saw wrong the first time. I was able to find the manager and tell him what happened. The manager was nice, I saw him talking to that woman, but I don’t know what happened to her, I had to leave. I really hope she got fired or went back to training.

Had a weather delay out of DFW for our flight to Lima, Peru....after more than 5 hours on the plane at the gate and on the tarmac, flight was cancelled. I understand bad weather delays are beyond the control of the airline.
My issues were with the lack of professionalism of the staff that followed.
Senior Flight crew exited the flight prior to allowing passengers off the flight.
Staff at the customer service desk were totally stressed and frankly not helpful. I was able to finally reach customer service on the phone after several hours.
We were not able to get rebooked on another flight for 36 hours and then it was by flying through Santiago, Chile....through a "code share" airline Latam.
We lost 2 days of our trip and tours...
The biggest head ache was our luggage
Unfortunately it was too much to ask for our luggage to make the journey with us....it was delayed 7 days--my bags went to Miami, my boys stayed in Dallas....American took no ownership in the baggage fiasco--and directed us to Latam as that was the airline that finally delivered us to Peru.... Neither provided ANY compensation as both blamed the other.
On a bright spot -- Latam did deliver our luggage a week later in Puerto Maldanado, Peru.....
Neither airline has paid a penny for our out of pocket expenses for purchases we made or truly apologized for mishandling our luggage.
