We recently flew Virgin Australia for our week holiday in Fiji. Had upgraded our seats to Economy X for the extra leg room. The upgrade was worth it and flights were on time except for a 20 minutes delay in Fiji. Service on board was excellent and the staff is friendly. Food is ... well... airplane food, nothing to write home about. The only disappointing bit was that the inflight wireless doesn't actually work, at least it didn't do what I expected it to do. So the flight was long and boring without much to do as I was counting on it.

Overall, the experience was good and I will fly Virgin again.

For an international flight without food supplied as part of the ticket it was surprising that you had to pay for snacks and meals. Basic tea and coffee was provided but nothing else unless you paid for their expensive snacks

We flew to Brisbane - our bags did not!! The bags were lost for for 2 days!! They did not communicate with us so we had no idea if we would ever see our bags again. At the airport they told us to buy toiletries and we would be reimbursed - we spent $300AUD and eventually got back $132AUD after a LOT of hassling by us (they paid us $150NZ even though we paid in AUD!!) It cost us more than that in phone charges to try and sort out the bag situation and printing and scanning the claim form etc. We had travel insurance but by the time they took off the excess and what Virgin paid us it wasn't worth claiming!! We realise that bags can be mishandled from time to time but it's how Virgin dealt with the situation that annoyed us the most!!

I am a frequent traveler on the late evening Melbourne to Darwin flight. I have found that the flights run pretty much to time with any delay normally caught up over the 4 hour flight. As always the flight attendants are particularly friendly and attentive even after midnight. Some hot food has been included on the flight which is good but it is limited and more of a hot snack - but good enough. Darwin Airport operated 24 hours and is completely refurbished so if you have to sleep overnight its not too bad all things considered.

Flight was pretty much on time. Seats were comfortable. This is sometimes a problem for me being 186 cms. In flight entertainment was somewhat lacking so I was lucky that I had plenty of reading material to past the time. Flight service staff were very good and appeared helpful to those I noticed who required individual attention.
