Off resort must dos

Hi, vacationing at the Iberostar Grand Paraiso soon and wondering if there are any tourist excursions that I should plan to do?

I love to snorkel. Also enjoy local highlights. We just want to be sure we're safe. Thanks for any tips

Snorkeling in Puerto Morelos in the protected reef park. Avoid Akumal. Get a boat from the pier by the leaning lighthouse $25USpp. Wet Set is good if you want to prearrange. Great beach town with super restaurants and beach clubs. We like Don Ernestos.

Avoid Tulum. Hot, crowded stuffy museum with a nice view. Go to Coba or Ek Balam, while there see Rio Lagartos biosphere, salt flats and flamingos. Visit a cenote or two. We always enjoy Sian Ka'an Biosphere, Muyil Forest and Float. Rio Secreto is special but not for folks who have mobility issues.

Lots of things to do. Depends what you like.

Good snorkeling at 3 Cenotes which are close together so you can see more than one in a single trip.

Cenote Azul, Eden & Cristalino. Rio Secreto is great to check out.

Chicken Itza if you have time. It's an all day excursion.

We liked Coba as that one can (at least at the time) still be climbed to the top.

Also Rio Secreto was very cool!

Definitely go to 5th Ave in PCD. 1 block over running parallel is the beach. Tons of restaurants, shops and bars on 5th and the beach. Night time is also great. Some people say it’s too commercialized while others love it. It’s always busy so I’d say more people like it than we think. Just gets your out of your resort so you can really feel you got the entire Mexican experience. Have fun on your tours

We’re booked to stay next door at the Maya Suites in November. Our first time there. I would love for you to do a review of the resort you’re staying at if you can. As Partygirl said, go to 5th Ave for one of your days. We love doing that a day or two when we’re in the Playa area.

Agree with checking out 5th Ave. at least once. You should walk from 1 end to the other, then back on 10th Ave. for a completely different experience. Or even 30th Ave. for a more local feel.

Is there much shopping in Puerto Morelos?
