Drive from Quilty to the ferry at Rossaveal

We will be staying in Quilty and then are hoping to leave in the morning for the ferry at Rossaveal. Is this drive manageable? Also, how do we get around on the island? We are both in our 60's and cannot ride a bicycle. Thanks.

You have to get from Quilty to Galway, then Galway to Rossaveal. That without stopping anywhere is going to take you 2 1/2 hours, give 1/2 hour on the quay and you have to leave Quilty 3 hours before your sailing.

There are minibus's on the island to take tourist round the sights but be aware there is also some rough walking involved getting to some of the points of interest.

Personally If this is just a day trip? there are better ways to spend your time and more sights between Quilty and Galway than just a day allows time for. you could also consider Inis Oirr from Doolin as an easier option.

We're planning to stay the night on the island and found a b&b near the ferry landing. I'll look into your suggestion about Inis Oirr as well. Thanks for the advice!!

If you are heading over for the night then there is less of a dash to get to Rossaveal, at least you can have breakfast and possibly do a couple of quick sights along the way before an afternoon crossing.
