Thanksgiving in Portland?

Thanksgiving in Portland?

In our quest to get out of California for the Thanksgiving break, we thought of Portland. Its been on our list for a while but just never made it there! It seems its the rainy season but am wondering if there are storms that will lock us indoors? Any tips on things to do around Thanksgiving or should we just save the trip for a better season?

We do not have downpours in the Pacific Northwest....well, maybe once or twice a year. The word "rain" has a different meaning up here compared to other parts of the country. Having said that, we have had headline-making Columbus Day and Thanksgiving Day storms....but it is their rarity that makes them news.

Are there storms that will "lock" you indoors? (1) Sorry, but unable to predict. (2) I don't know what intensity of a storm will "lock you indoors". The most accurate answer is Maybe. The thing to do is keep track of the weather and find a 10 day forecast and see what it will say. The other thing is just don't worry about it. Come up to Portland and have fun.

Megha V, you don't say where or what part of California you are from? I'm guessing from your questions that you live in SoCal. Yes, it will most likely be raining in Portland during Thanksgiving weekend. Yes, it will probably feel cold. So if those two things will "lock you indoors", then it's probably not a good idea.

Most places other than Hawaii or Florida will be chillier and wetter than southern California at that time of year ;-)
