Just wondering if the chairlift at The Nut operates in June? And will it be too windy there during that time of the year?
Hi Ducky, They don't state it but like all chairlifts, if the winds are higher enough I imagine they will close it. It would be a brisk ride to the top on a breezy June day, very refreshing :o)
Running times below.
Open daily 9.30am - 5.30pm (December - April). Daily 9.30am - 4.30pm (May - mid July).
Closed mid-July to early September, Christmas Day, Boxing Day and Easter Good Friday.
Cheers
Robert
Edited: 11 years agoOnly takes about 10 minutes to walk to the top though.
I went up and back on the chairlift on a day that was very windy, cold and drizzly and it was fine. It is quick so wasn't an issue at all.
Stunning view from up there, enjoy.
Very good question Ducky. We will also be there in June and I had'nt thought of that. Thinking chairlift up and walk down,or not. See you there
Thanks guys!!
Hey Glenn, might see you there then! :D I'll arrive 4 Jun and leaving 25 Jun!!! Can't wait!!! I dreamt I'm already in Cradle last night....omg...too much planning!!!!! My hubby said I have to stop but I just love reading all the reviews on tripadvice!!!!
Hi Ducky,
June is usually not a windy month for Stanley, so you could be lucky. September and October can be very windy here, but bear in mind that Stanley is exposed to the ocean on all sides and is a very windy place.
Take the track if the chairlift is closed; a steep but short climb.
This thread is over a year old, beachsideretreat. I suspect that the OP has finished their trip.
You are right Luigi, I did and the whole of Tasmania was AMAZING!!! And yes the chairlift ws closed when we went but we walked up instead which was still very nice!!! We spent a month in Tasmania and we really should've stayed for 3 months, loved loved lived our trip, once again thanks for all your advice!! :)
Glad you enjoyed your trip Ducky, it's really only started to get cold here now, bit later than normal.
Hope to see you back.
Does anyone still know if it'll be open on 4th June? The website now seems to say that it closes on the 1st Thu of June, which would make it 1st June... but I don't know if I'm reading correctly. I've tried contacting them online to ask, but no response.
