Homewood Suites on Freemans Bridge Road

We are looking for a stopover hotel on our way to Maine, and found this. Wondering if any locals have feedback on location or anything else in the area to see while we are here for only one night. Looks like a nice hotel generally, but wondering about the area. Thanks in advance for your help!!

I stayed at the Hampton Inn on State Street and loved it. Super cute main street with shops, restaurants and old time movie theater. Included parking and breakfast. if you just need a stop over, I'm sure Homewood Suites is fine and nice view by the water but if you want location with walkable things things in the area, check this one out.

That location limits you really just to Water's Edge, which is a nice waterfront restaurant. The rest of the neighborhood is pretty commercial/industrial. Where will you be coming from? Schenectady seems a bit out of the way from Maryland - Maine. If that general area is convenient, I would look at the Courtyard at Mohawk Landing. That area has a couple fun restaurants within walking distance, and I would like the setting slightly better. Druthers is a local brewery with good pub food, and Shaker and Vine is a fun wine bar, with a vast "self-serve" wine bar that includes what are ultimately wine pour vending machines. And if you are a gambler, the Rivers Casino is also within walking distance. That said, Homewood Suites is only a mile from the Courtyard, so you can always drive to Mohawk Landing.

Otherwise, I agree that the Hampton Inn on State Street is a good option, with a walkable area downtown. Proctor's Theate is our local theater getting Broadway shows, so you might want to check out what is on tour there when you visit.

What exactly is your planned route? If you are travelling on the interstates, look at the cluster of hotels and restaurants on Wolf Rd, just at the junction of I87 and I90(thruway) in Latham.
