I was highly anticipating a new restaurant in Edison as we have very few that make the grade...Well Skylark stays on the bottom as with most of Edisons restaurants.
Let me start with the positives: It is a new and hip kind of diner/restaurant with new and different items on the menu. It is kinda retro looking which has a DJ at night. The bar area is cute and inviting. The diner side is also appealing to the eye. However this is where it ends.
I went with my mom and was seated at a table for two. Normally these tables are quite small and I accept that. However our table had a bottle of water in the middle(which you could buy) 2 water glasses plus two wine glasses. Come on! this is a high end diner not a upscale restaurant. Get rid of the wine glasses already.
Okay, 10 minutes goes by with no server. I ask an employee to please ask our server to come to our table. She comes promptly with a nice apology. Okay I'm happy. I order a coors lite & my mom a coffee. 10 minutes later she comes back telling me they have no coors on draft. I reply with just give me any lite beer. 5 minutes later I receive a green beer. I was told it was left over from St. Patrick's Day....
I really don't want it but don't want to wait another 10 minutes so I accept it. My mom does not get milk with her coffee so once again, I have to track the server down.
Mom orders a turkey club, me a burger. I asked for med-well, I got a hockey puck, but my mom on the other hand got bacon that wasn't cooked on her club sandwich.
It gets better. There are no blinds or curtains at all in the entire establishment so if you are one of the lucky ones who is in direct view of the sun you are in trouble. Of course this was my seat and it was so blinding that we physically had to move to another table. Of course 15 minutes later the gentleman next to me asked to be moved for the same reason
Suffice to say this experience was horrible.
I will wait a few months and try the place again as I believe they are going through growing pains.
As for right now, I would not suggest going there at all.
