Is jacks-or-better a smarter game to play than deuces wild? Does it just depend on the pay schedule? I usually play deuces wild cuz its fun but have seen higher payouts for jacks or better. Which is the better game to play?
"Smarter?" Now that's a loaded question! IMHO Jacks or Better is easier because you don't have to keep track of wild cards. But does easier mean smarter of dumber?
It's the pay schedule that determines which game has the best payoff. Full-pay Jacks and full-pay Deuces have similar odds.
I would check out the wizard of odds website. It does depend on the pay schedule and they would have info on expected rate of return based on the pay schedules available.
even if one game pays slightly better than the other if you find decent pay schedules, it's prolly worth the extra $1 an hour to play a game that you enjoy. in vegas, gambling is just paying for entertainment. if you are looking to make money, avoid casinos completely. ;)

i hear ya Chris! Not looking to make money, just make it last long! Of course a royal would be nice. I think I'll stick w/ my deuces wild then-oh btw thanks for your earlier post with the links for the strategy cards and other vp stuff-will check that out for sure!
