It is, all though Thomasville has several historic homes and buildings that are open to tour. Check with the local Chamber for more info.

You are right though in that there are plantations all through the area and most of them being working but mainly hunting plantations. This area extends from just North of Albany to Tallahassee. Most all of these are extremely private.
