Road Trip Southern Georgia (US-84)

A group of 6 friends from Scotland are driving through Southern Georgia (possibly along US-84 or nearby) on a road trip between Orlando and New Orleans in late June/early July. We're all late 20s, interested in music, nightlife, food, sports, (anything fun) and would love any suggestions for things to see/do along the way, particularly in smaller towns along the way if possible, as we'll be seeing the bigger cities of Orlando and New Orleans at start/end of our trip. Any ideas (or route suggestions) much appreciated!

Thomasville does have a few thing of interest, look here: http://www.thomasvillega.com/Content/Default/8/13/0/thomasville-visitor's-center/home.html

Also, Pensacola, Florida has a few things worth checking out, including a good naval aviation museum. Mobile, Alabama has its share of history.

You could also post your question on the Road Trip forum - who knows: maybe someone else has done a similar route.

Safe travels and get sunscreen and mosquito repellent (Off and Cutter are two well known brands) while you are here :)

Stevedec - thanks for the reply. Thomasville sounds a nice town, lots to see and do, just what we're after so definitely worth a stop! Hoping to keep quite a bit of spontaneity to see what we come across too, so hopefully we've got a solid GPS system in the hire car!

isabill - good suggestion, I actually posted there as well earlier, so have already had a few responses, with some also suggesting sunscreen and insect repellent! Hopefully we'll enjoy exploring that part of the country!

By the way, if your road trip takes you to Mobile, AL, take a look at Fairhope AL. I've heard many nice things about it.

Thomasville is a suggestion. Not a lot going on in many small towns in GA and AL in terms of sport, nightlife, etc.

isabill - thanks for the suggestion, will give that a look. Looks like it's just across the bay from Mobile so could well be en route!

PeachBelle8288 - thanks for this, yeah we're fine to get our nightlife kicks in New Orleans, but will be good to get a feel for some smaller, quaint wee towns through Southern Georgia / Alabama. Thomasville has been mentioned a couple of times, so we will try to give it a look!
