I live in Los Angeles and travel abroad at least twice a year. Discovering wonderful restaurants where food is a passion is exhilarating, especially when you find a real gem tucked away in an unexpected place. This is the case when my wife and I found Liam's restaurant in Thomasville Georgia. Here are a few items from their menu that are sure to please even the most discriminating palate:
Beef tenderloin -- grilled over an open flame, served with roasted fingerling potatoes, haricots vert & red wine and gorgonzola butter.
Sesame crusted tuna -- sushi grade ahi, wakame salad, wasabi tobikko, pickled ginger & matsuhisa sauce.
Pork loin -- char grilled & paired with sweet potato hash & our fig and tamarind glaze.
The menu is small, but has plenty of variety. I have never had anything there short of wonderful. Scott Foster is an amazing chef who truly understands food and creating complex and satisfying flavors and textures. I am convinced that given the right exposure he will be a culinary star on a major level. His wife Rhonda is no less amazing with her encyclopedic knowledge of food and in particular cheeses from all over the world. If there's any shortcoming here it would be that Liam's has no liquor license. But for me this is a plus, because by bringing your own bottle of wine you add real value to a gourmet experience. Here's all the pertinent info for a great lunch or dinner at Liam's:
