Need help planning a fun evening with husband

My husband and I are staying in Santa Monica for 1 night (Easter night), before heading to Santa Barbara for a few days. When we were in Charleston, SC, we randomly decided to go to a bunch of different restaurants all in one evening. We had oysters, appetizers and drinks at all of them. We met and talked with other restaurant guests because we sat at the restaurant bars...and it was so much fun. I'd like to do the same thing for our evening in Santa Monica, because there looks to be so many great places with good food and ambiance. Can anyone give me some suggestions of places (all walkable in the vicinity of The Viceroy Hotel - we are in our mid-30's, so walking a ways is no big deal for us) and menu items that are must haves? We love all kids of food. We would also like to go to places that tend to be lively. Thanks!

Oooh, my favorite post in ages! All a short walk from Viceroy, and in order from south to north, along Ocean Ave.

Start with oysters happy hour at Herringbone: herringboneeats.com/locations/santa-monica/

Then walk to The Lobster for apps and the view: http://thelobster.com

more happy hour at Red O: http://www.redorestaurant.com/locations/

Have dinner (or just their yummy Ceasar Salad or chopped vegetable salad) at Ivy at the Shore: theivyrestaurants.com/ivy-at-the-shore/

then to Copa de Oro for drinks : http://www.copadoro.com

or to The Penthouse for drinks and the view: https://www.thehuntleyhotel.com/penthouse

then to end the night at the very hip Bungalow: http://www.thebungalow.com/sm/

Nightcap at your hotel poolside bar (always happening).

I could give lots of advice if walking south, too. There's just so much to do around there. Main Street alone would fill up a night!

And I didn't even get to post the route going south - I would start with Casa del Mar or Shutters Hotel happy hour. Then to Stella Barra on Main Street. Then walk Main Street from place to place - it's a completely different alternative.

The only thing I'd do differently would be tuck Water Grill in there for oysters and bloody mary's.

If you fit all 7 spots in, plus Water Grill, you'll have the Guinness World Record.

Don't fall into the pool!

I would avoid the Bungalow at all cost unless you like a college frat party.
