Hi
We are thinking of hiring a scooter to explore Savaii . What are the roads like? How busy? is there fuel supplies around the island? We will stay for about a week. Thanks
Hi
The roads are quite good, basically one road around the whole island unless you want to go off the beaten track. Not at all busy but the speed limit is low and you need to look out for kids, dogs, chickens and pigs wandering across the road. There are only a few petrol stations around the island so you'll need to plan before you go. There is one in the main village of Salelologa where the ferry docks, one about 20 minutes north of that, one at Fagamalo/Manase, one at Asau and one near the blowholes on the way back to Salelologa. The following map may help:

Have a great trip

Link to map doesn't seem to work. Just Google "Petrol Stations Savaii" and the map should pop up
Thanks for that info. Is the road bitumen or dirt on Savaii? Many potholes?
Bitumen on the main road and into some of the main attractions. It's quite well maintained but you may come across a few small potholes, particularly in the wet season
