Savai’i accommodation 20-28 April 2019

We are aiming to hire a car for 8 days. We have our first night in Upolu, then will take the ferry across to Savai’i and have 4 nights there. Do we need to book that accommodation in advance? We are keen to stay in fales.

Also should we get a rental car in upolu and take it over on the ferry or get one when we get there?

Hi

When are you going? If it's between May and August I do suggest you book as this is around peak tourist season. Have you chosen the fales you want to stay in?

It is more convenient to pick up a car on Upolu if you intend to have the car for the length of your stay. The fare for the car on the ferry is 180 tala, I recommend Sa'Moana Rentals, Blue Pacific Car Hire or Taumeasina Rentals.

Cheers

Deb

We’re thinking of staying in fales near Manase, Falealupo and somewhere down south.

In that case I really don't think you need to book but I would email somewhere like Tanu's or Jane's at Manase to see how busy they are.

Have a great holiday

Unless there is an event on in Manase - reunion, swim competition or school trip etc you should find you have your pick of fales. It’s always nice to decide when you get there, they can change from season to season depending on staff or renovations ( or lack of) last season Tailua was nice but with the erosion on the beach I think Jane’s might be best for access for the kids although her fales needed a good makeover last visit. Falealupo had a new family fale operation last visit and although I like both the staff at both places the new one had better fales ( I got burnt by a centipede in the run down fales- the old mats etc seem to attract critters)
