Family Friendly Resort Aitutaki

Anyone with young children been to Aitutaki and stayed in an actual resort? Everything seems to cater to adults only. Trying to avoid Airbnb as we like the resort-type feel best. Any suggestions or recommendations welcome!

Tamanu Beach REsort has an adults only side and a family side. It has a small resort type feel and is highly recommended by friends who have stayed there.

Kia Orana Travelbug Goont, welcome to the Aitutaki forum.

Aitutaki Village in Ootu, would be a nice property for a family stay. They have units located to the rear of the accommodation area, set up to accept a family group.

The lagoon view Blue Lagoon restaurant is on the beachfront, overlooking Ootu channel. It's a nice quiet area, with several other places to stay - Popoara/Ocean Breeze, and Ranginui's Retreat. The Koru cafe is barely 5 minutes walk from Aitutaki Village. Popoara also has a licenced restaurant, called the Boat Shed, again within short walking distance.

Several lagoon cruises depart from Ootu, namely Bishops (who own Aitutaki Village), and the Vaka lagoon cruise. Kayaking and SUP from the Ootu beachfront.

Rental cars available in Ootu.

I would recommend Tamanu…lovely family resort with a nice Island night on Thursdays…,or was a Thursday night, might pay to check what night.

If you want to do the Island night it would pay to prebook.

Food and drinks are lovely. I recommend Avatea cafe for a nice lunch or dinner, Koru cafe is also good for breakfast or lunch or bakery items. Check them both out on fb.

Definitely Thursday night for the Tamanu Beach island night. I phoned not so long ago and spoke to the restaurant manager. She confirmed that Tamanu Beach has been hosting the Thursday night island night for some time now since we reopened our Cook Islands border.

I also posted this information on the sticky at the top of the Cook Islands forum page.
