From Lencois To Jericoacoara

Hi!,

I'm travelling to Brazil next month and I'm looking for a quick way to move from Lencois (or Sao Luis) to Jeri in 1 day if possible. Is it possible to hire a 4x4 in Barreirinhas? Otherwise any direct flight from Sao Luis to Jericoacoara JJD airport? It is really complicated to find the good informations on the internet..

Moreover what are the best companies in your opinion for a tour in Lencois? I was thinking about brazilplanet (brasilplanet.com.br/en/tourismbrazil/LEN%C3%…)

no direct flight...

flights to JJD only leave from Recife (REC), Belo Horizonte (CNF) and Campinas (VCP) on Azul.... and from Sao Paulo GRU on Gol... and not daily... see if any flights leaving from Sao Luiz (SLZ) allow for decent connections to JJD on your planned date...

this company provides shared overland transfers between Lençois Maranhenses (Barreirinhas) and Jeri... but it is a two-step process.... Lençois to Parnaiba (requires staying overnight there),,, and then Parnaiba to Jeri.

You don't necessarily need a tour company to see the park. There is a bus from Sao Luis to Barreirinhas (4 hours) and plenty of lodging there. Once there, you can arrange for day tours into the park with the locals who have 4x4s.

Thank you for your answers!

Is it possible to rent a 4x4 in barreirinhas to go by myself to Jericoacoara? Or it is not recommended?

Not recommended. This is a remote and isolated part of the country. It is mostly along the coast, ie sand. You need a guide who knows the area and how to deal with tides, sand, water, breakdowns, etc.
